Upon my arrest I had a total of 30 charges. One of them carrying a life sentence. Mr. Aval is not only professional and obviously knowledgable in Criminal Law, and brilliant in the courtroom - he's the real deal. As my defense attorney, I referred to him as my "Dream Team". This is the guy you want sitting next to you at the defense table. I would not be free if it were not for this man. I'm not one to write reviews, but when going through such a life altering experience, you want to make sure you have the best in the business, and in my case he is it. Choosing a lawyer isn't like picking out what pair of socks you'll wear. This is serious, which is why I am posting a review. He communicated well and in a timely manner with my family and made sure all matters were addressed. I am so grateful to this man. Plus, he's easy on the eyes. Amazing. Simply amazing.
Excellent attorney he really fights for you my boyfriend was looking at life without parole and Simon got him 16yrs.. When it comes to your freedom you want to know that your lawyer is doing his all for you and with Simon you can be confident your getting the best. Simon is the only lawyer I hire for me and my family. I recommend him to everyone who is looking for a criminal lawyer.
Second time hiring him . Charge was DUI, he walked me through the whole process. I had peace of mind knowing that I was being represented by him. They wanted to sentence me to 6 months, but he was able to bring it down to some fines and attend some classes that was about it. Would definitely recommend. Thanks again Simon.

Overal, I did enjoy him as my lawyer, He kept my friend out on bail for a year and landed him a good deal. BUT 50% of the time he was replace by his people.. I understand he was very busy during the time. But I am very appreciative of him.

I have highest praise for Mr. Simon Aval and his staff. This experience could have been unpleasant, however, it was not. Mr. Aval was not only professional, he was caring. He answered all of our questions and took the time to explain those things we were not familiar with. He lowered my Burglary case, a felony, to a petty theft, a misdeamenor, and had the DA accept time served instead of the 16 months, county jail time I was facing. Words cant even explain my gratitude. Thank you so much.

I had an unfortunate driving complication. I was charged with DUI. Mr Aval represented me. He saved my driving privileges, help reducing my charge to a none DUI, with no classes to take. I feel very lucky to find Mr Aval, since other attorney's that I talked to did not earn my trust and confidence. He is very knowledgable. He walked me through process and explained to me in details on what to expect as well as the facts of my case. He was available to answer all of my concerns in a very timely manner as the process progressed. I am very happy with the outcome.

Mr. Aval represented me last year on a felony assault case. Mr. Aval could not have been a better lawyer. He kept me informed and involved during the entire process. He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced when we appeared in court. He convinced the prosecutor on my case to drop the charges and agree to community service, as long as i agreed to never get in trouble again.
I could not be any happier with my experience with Mr. Aval. I would highly recommend anybody in need of legal help to call Mr. Aval.

I was accused for serious charges such as forced raped, sodomy, and lewd act with a minor. I had three trials and Mr. Aval represented me on my third trial. The accusations were so serious that I could face over 21 years. I hired an investigator and provided Mr. Aval lots of information to use for my defense. Mr. Aval didn’t file a single Motion he promised, he didn’t coach me what I should and what I shouldn’t say on the trial, more than 50% of critical evidences were never introduced to the jury. Mr. Aval had more than six months to prepare the case. He promised to talk to an expert about medical records, to talk to an Immigration attorney and so on, but he never did that. I never got a chance to tell the jury my side of the story.
During the trial it felt that Mr. Aval would do everything only to please the judge. District Attorney filled 26 motions and judge granted all of them. Everything that the same judge allowed on the first trial, he didn’t on the third. We lost our chance to use our strategy for my defense and Mr. Aval did nothing about it.
Mr. Aval spent a minimum time to prepare my case. He tried to convince me to take a deal few days before the trial saying that DA offered me three month in jail instead of 21 years in prison and registration as a sex offender. Registration and three months would be nothing for me to compare with 21 years in State Prison. I was planning to go back to my country in Europe anywhere, but I refused to take the deal because I wanted to clean my name. On the day of my sentencing DA said that she never gave me such a deal, her deal was a minimum of two years.
I was found guilty on the smallest two counts and received 3 years and 8 months. Both counts were lewd act on child. My friends tried to contact Mr. Aval for clarification about these counts and which part of the “victim’s” story these counts belong to. Mr. Aval never responded. Only after I was released from prison I found out that I received three years for something that was already admitted by “victim” on the first trial that it wasn’t true because I showed receipts that I was in different country. My appeal attorney also found out that judge didn’t give mandatory instruction to the jury for this count and Mr. Aval never mentioned about it on the day of sentencing. Mr. Aval also refused to put in writing what jury told him after the trial.
On the day of my sentencing I signed the document and it was a judge order that Mr. Aval is no longer my defense counselor, but one year later Mr. Aval represented me on the reinstitution hearing without any of my knowledge or my consent. I found about it from the Prison Administration six months later. Mr. Aval later claimed that he was ordered by the same judge to represent me on the hearing. I do not understand how it is even possible to order the counselor to represent me without my consent after the same judge ordered that he was no longer my attorney. I still have no clue why do I have to pay these reinstitution fees.
I am planning to file the complaint to the State Bar of California.
