Mr. Medina was born in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from Cathedral High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Baumholder, West Germany. After his Army stint, he graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California (USC).
Mr. Medina then joined the ranks of Los Angeles' finest and became a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. He eventually attained the rank of sergeant before enrolling in law school. He earned his law degree at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law (UCLA).
