About Me

Bennet is the founder of the Internet Law Center.  While anybody can call themself an internet lawyer, few have been at the center of the leading internet legal and policy debates as Bennet has for the past decade.  

 

  • He was the Co-Chair of the California Bar Cyberspace Committee where he led the effort to develop a primer on Cyberspace Law for state policymakers.
  • He was praised by a Congressional committee for his contributions on spyware legislation.
  •  Bennet was chosen by the U.S. Department of Commerce as one of two private sector lawyers to present on U.S. e-commerce law at the 17th U.S-China Legal Exchange in China.
  • He has been rated as one of the top internet lawyers by two industry publications.

 

Bennet is the publisher of the firm's newsletter Cyber Report which won top newsletter prize from the Los Angeles Press Club in 2011 and host of Cyber Law and Business Report on WebmasterRadio.fm.

 

Prior to launching the Internet Law Center, Bennet was Assistant Generaral Counsel and Director of Governmental Affairs and Privacy at ValueClick.  He also served as General Counsel of ETM Entertainment Network.

 

Bennet was born in Providence, Rhode Island.  He is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and is admitted in California, District of Columbia and Maryland (inactive).
