About Me

Attorney Al Marquis devotes most of his time to corporate, real property and litigation matters. His years of experience in the field of commercial litigation have given him a unique insight into the field of lawsuit avoidance. Most lawsuits can be avoided with competent legal advice when the contract is signed.

Mr. Marquis has been a practicing attorney in Nevada since 1975, and has achieved an "AV" rating (the highest available) from Martindale-Hubbell. He has had the privilege of participating in a number of high profile cases including a verbal abuse case against entertainer Redd Foxx; a precedent-setting case where the Nevada Supreme Court held a shopping center anchor tenant liable for the decrease in the value of the center after it vacated but continued paying rent; and the successful defense of actor Martin Sheen.

Mr. Marquis is admitted to practice in the Nevada and U.S. District Court, District of Nevada; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Marquis has been inducted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Nevada Super Lawyers, and Mountain States Super Lawyers.

Mr. Marquis has two grown sons. He and his wife, Joanie, enjoy flying their TBM 700 and spending time with their horses at Kingston Ranch. Mr. Marquis has published a book, "Frivolous Cowboy Poetry," and he is happy to recite a poem or two on request (or without a request for that matter).

I endorse this lawyer. I worked for Al Marquis for almost seven years, during which time I came to learn that Al's legal experience is extraordinary and hard-earned. Al's strength is his ability to see the big picture of any legal issue and provide guidance not only to resolve the particular issue before him, but to also to position the client in the best possible manner for ongoing business relationships. In addition to being a great lawyer and mentor, Al is a larger-than-life character. His non-legal interests include writing cowboy poetry, flying airplanes, and living on his ranch with his beloved wife, dogs, and cockatoo.
