About me

Christopher J. Phillips founded the estate law firm of Phillips Ballenger in 2013.  His practice focuses on probate, trust and guardianship administration and probate, and trust and guardianship litigation.  Mr. Phillips has extensive trial experience in will contests, trust contests and contested minor and adult guardianship matters.  Prior to forming Phillips Ballenger, Mr. Phillips was a partner in the firm of Trent, Tyrell & Phillips practicing primarily in Trust, Estate and Guardianship matters.

Mr. Phillips has represented professional and private fiduciaries, banks, executors, trustees, beneficiaries, heirs, creditors as well as fellow estate planning attorneys in probate and trust administration and litigation.  His practice is focused not only on probate and trusts, but also on adult guardianships.  Mr. Phillips has represented guardians, wards, and professional fiduciaries in both contested and uncontested guardianship matters.

Mr. Phillips’ wealth of experience allows him to represent families in disputes regarding the administration of Estates, recovery of assets, negotiation and reduction of creditor claims against estates and trusts, Medicaid planning and spousal divisions in guardianship matters.

Mr. Phillips’ possesses a breadth of  trial experience regarding will and trust contests based upon undue influence, testamentary and contractual capacity, unjust enrichment, forgery, fraud and technical invalidity.  Mr. Phillips has also taken guardianship issues to trial involving the necessity of a guardianship, the legal capacity of a proposed ward, misappropriation of a ward’s assets and elder abuse.
