I began practicing criminal law and general civil litigation. Since 2002, I have been helping people with estate planning, probate and family law needs. Now I focus half on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and half on DUI defense. I am focused on getting results for clients, and my clients will tell you that this is my talent.

I graduated with honors from the Iowa College of Law in 1996. I have experience as a business owner, and use that experience to help my clients who are professionals and business owners.
An ideal estate planning client for me is someone who appreciates not being shoved into a one-size-fits all approach. Not everyone needs a trust, because other options less expensive options sometimes work. Non-traditional couples (unmarried, gay, etc.) need special treatment. Couples with children from prior relationships also need special treatment. Non-citizens or persons owning property outside the U.S. have other issues that needs to be addressed. While we can certainly handle simple estate plans, we focus on more complicated issues.
Ideal probate-related cases for me include:
1. Ordinary probates and/or trust administrations.
2. Probates or trusts where the person in charge is not doing what they are supposed to be doing.
3. DUI cases.
Our law firm also assists people with domestic relations (family law) issues.
