    Hired Attorney

As a first...and hopefully last time...divorcee, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Amanda to any woman going through this stressful process!!! She was amazing and truly went above and beyond her duties to make this as painless as possible for me and my two children. From late night phone calls and emails, to giving heart to heart sincere advice...I trusted Amanda COMPLETELY. She was never wrong and always steered me in the right direction. As a woman who had never even consulted a lawyer for anything in the past, I feel like I won the lottery when I hired Amanda! I really can't thank her enough for the counsel and investment she made in both mine...and my children's future. She gave me peace of mind and in the end, there is nothing better than that!! :)

Amanda was very easy to work with, easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. I was out of state during most of the proceedings and Amanda kept me well informed and up to date. I will recommend Amanda to all my friends and family.

I just went through what should have been a relatively simple divorce, and therefore did not have an attorney. My ex did hire an attorney and, after the process dragged on and on for months without resolution, I decided to seek some legal help to try to reach a settlement. Amanda was extremely helpful, informed, sympathetic, responsive, honest and aggressive. She was able to help me navigate through the end of a long and difficult process and took a huge weight off my shoulders by getting the other side to settle. I only wish I had hired her sooner. Thank you Amanda.

Amanda took the time to really learn about me and my situation during our first meeting to discuss my divorce proceedings. She made some great suggestions and was not insistent that I stick with only her ideas when I wanted some modifications. Amanda has a direct, honest and compassionate manner that made this difficult situation a little easier. She is very knowledgeable of Arizona laws and I knew that I was in good hands.

Amanda Toby Mays’s response: “Thank you so much Tamara! I hope the next chapter of your life is wonderful.”

Amanda is a great attorney and worth every penny spent. She is very caring and understanding, even with difficult cases that have lots of issues. None of the issues were glossed over and I felt that she handled everything with professionalism. She was responsive and we were able to settle several issues outside of court which helped reduce the trial time. After the hearing has passed and other issues have cropped up she has been right there to deal with things if needed. I would highly recommend Amanda if you need an attorney!

I used her as my divorce attorney in NJ a few years back. I hired her to fix my child support right away because the way it was calculated on my temporary order was wrong. She kept staling telling me that in 3 months we would fix it at the attorney review panel. I paid her a flat fee and so she was clearly expending the least amount of effort possible. At the attorney review panel it was strongly in my favor but it was clear my child support wouldn't be addressed that day as she had promised. My child support calculation was nearly double what it should have been. So I decided to settle that day if they promised to recalculate it that day. Ms. Mays rushed us in to put the agreement on the record. Which was the dumbest thing ever! She said my ex wife's attorney would draft the final written. Well my support never got recalculated! And to this day I have spend 10's of thousands in court trying to get that agreement honored. My ex's lawyer never wrote up the written and so my I had to go to court to force the judge to write a written agreement based on the transcript. The whole time Ms. mays was buddy buddy with my ex wife's attorney which was extremely unprofessional! She helped my ex stale and stale. And if anyone knows you can never get child support credit retro active!

Amanda Toby Mays’s response: “I worked with this client in July 2009. I was his second or third attorney that he used during his divorce. I was hired one month prior to the Early Settlement Panel. His goal was to reach settlement on that day and avoid a lengthy, expensive trial. I charged him half of the standard divorce retainer. We went into a conference room and I worked very hard for many hours along with his wife's attorney to help our clients reach an amicable settlement. The parties had four young children. My client entered into a settlement as opposed to going to trial as he believed the terms were in his best interest at the time. An agreement was read onto the record so the court would vacate the parties' upcoming trial. Judge Michael Toto took the testimony of both my client and his wife asking if they believed this resolution was fair and reasonable. He testified that the agreement was fair and reasonable, in the children's best interest and that he wasn't forced or coerced. My client's wife's attorney agreed to draft the agreement. Child support was to be recalculated. The parties did not enter into a written agreement. My client expressed his extreme unhappiness that the parties were unable to settle and accused me of being too friendly with his wife's attorney. I was soon thereafter fired and my client hired a new attorney, his third or fourth during his divorce process. It was unfortunate that the parties were unable to reach a settlement on all terms. I remember this day vividly as I worked very hard to help my client reach that agreement. I hope that Richard (although he posted this as "Mike") and his family have moved past these proceedings and started a new chapter in their lives.”
