A few years ago I hired James Simpson for my DUI case and was very impressed! James was very knowledgeable and kept me involved and informed. He was always available and open to answer any and all of my questions. James saw to it that I fairly represented. I will always refer those in nred of legal help to this firm!

Having recently moved to the Phoenix area (charged with a DUI within 5 days of arrival), I consulted with various attorneys before meeting Jim. From the beginning Jim was very straight-forward about drawbacks and possibilities without sugar-coating potential problems. What impressed me the most from the start was Jim's concern about me as a fellow human being, and not just another client. His thoughtful effort in making sure I always understood how we were doing, and also that I felt OK about the situation and the potential outcomes made a world of difference to me. Being my case somewhat difficult, and having come out with much less than the minimum penalty for these charges, I'd highly recommend Jim as the attorney to hire if you ever see yourself in such a dire situation.

I was charged with a DUI and did not know where to turn and who to trust. I interviewed with a number of attorneys and when I met with James I knew that he was the one I wanted to work with. He knew my goals and how to best achieve them.
I was a standard DUI case, it was my first ever criminal charge. James answered all of my questions and kept me totally in the loop of what was going on. I had done everything wrong in terms of dealing with the officer when I was pulled over, I submitted to field testing, admitted to drinking prior in the evening, etc. I thought for sure I was a goner and going to get the standard day jail time, interlock, lose my license for a period of time.
James was able to get me a plea down to a reckless driving misdemeanor (which I plan to try and get "Set Aside" in the near future and off my record hopefully). I got out of the criminal case at my first pre-trial hearing. Paying only a few hundred dollar fine, and now only a reckless driving on my history which is much less serious than a DUI.
When it came to the MVD civil case (which is much harder to dodge than the criminal case), the MVD made a number of mistakes in scheduling and the judge and arresting officer were not on time to my hearing. James used this to our advantage and negotiated my MVD civil case to be DROPPED! That meant no license suspension whatsoever. I could not have asked for more.
I am so glad that I decided to go with James and I would recommend him to anyone who is facing a DUI charge. I believe the fact that he was previously a prosecutor really helped, he knew exactly what to say and do. Please contact him if you are in a similar situation, you will not be disappointed.

Jim's prior experience working as a prosecutor provides invaluable knowledge as to how that office operates, and understands their dogma. This coupled with his defense experience provides a well rounded approach to any case, that enables him to determine the key factors to instinctively build a solid defense. These key factors, coupled with his great trial experience and strategy, resulted in the acquittal by Jury of my Felony 4 Aggravated Assault charges, to include the lessor assault option that the jury could have convicted me on.
As with all cases a well document account of the instances leading up to the charge to include all details, will enable him to defend you.
In addition to Jim's well rounded legal and trial experience ,his supporting professional staff was always available to support and respond to any inquiry, no matter what the question or concern may have been. Wishing you all the very best through your difficult time, and I highly recommend Jim. Thank you Jim, and I have much appreciation for you, your staff, and office, (Particularly Megan!). All the best...

James kept me from going to jail to being on probation for an aggravated dui sentence. He researched the law and found a way to adjudicate my case within the legal parameters of fairness. I truly appreciate James' work and his expertise for handling my second dui case. Hire him. I have read these testimonials and now I find myself writing a great one for a great attorney: James Simpson.

When I was charged with a felony DUI, Jim really worked to get me the best possible outcome. He really took the pressure off of me so I was able to deal with other important life issues. He was very professional, yet made himself available whenever I had a question or just needed a little reassurance. I found him to be candid and honest with me about every aspect of my case.

This was the first time I ever needed a lawyer. I spoke with 6 or so and was impressed by Jim's compassion, knowledge and professionalism. He handled my case quickly and all charges were dropped. I never even had to go to court.

I have actually worked with Jim twice now and both times he has been absolutely amazing. He is always in contact with his clients and ensures you are well informed at all times are far as the legal stand point. I truly can't thank Jim enough for all that he has done for me and my career. He will always be in my thoughts.

I interviewed a lot of different lawyers trying to find one that made me feel comfortable not only in the outlook they had on my case, but also brought a sense of reassurance that they could handle my DUI. James is the only one that made me feel he could handle both and he did, very well. Helped me threw the process of fighting a DUI charge, we ended up going to trial. This is where it couldn't have gotten much better, he knew when to push and when to wait, his timing, knowledge and familiarity with the court was amazing. I didn't think there was any chance I was getting less than the standard, (night in jail, fines, Interlock), but he guided me through the unknown to a not guilty verdict. Advising me on decisions and using his expertise, timing, and his knowledge of the courtroom and judges to get the best possible outcome. I would recommend James E Simpson, I truly do not know how it could have turned out any better with any other lawyer!

Client received two DUI's in one day, aggravated (two counts) / extreme (two counts) in two different jurisdictions. These both carried felony charges (and equaled 7 total felonies, and could have resulted in 2.5 years in prison). Because of Jim's efforts, research, and dedication to his client, and by understanding his clients circumstances and needs (client did go through rehab and alcohol counseling voluntarily), this attorney was able to present a strong argument to the court of his client's improvement, intent in the matters, and promoted valid reason and rationale as to why his client should not be incarcerated. He also helped his client to be proactive and prepared for court. The final result: Jim's client spent two nights in jail, received one misdemeanor DUI and another undesignated felony (which turns into a misdemeanor after 1.5 years of probation is served).

Jim Simpson offered sound advise and stellar service from the initial contact to the completion of my case. Being a first time offender for DUI I was facing a very frightening and costly process. Jim was very honest about what the possible and most likely outcome could be, and how he could protect me. He was also very honest and flexible about his fees and worked out a payment plan that worked for both of us. Mr. Simpson delivered on every one of his promises and exceeded all expectations by going through the entire court process with me and successfully arguing my case. Including the MVD hearing! I would recommend Mr. Simpson to anyone facing criminal or DUI charges because I am very
confident he will promise less than he can do, and deliver more than anyone else!

Jim Simpson did a truly incredible job for my son as well as our entire family. Jim was very patient with us (parents) as far as explaining the process in the court room as well as preparing us for the hearing. We were advised to write letters of support for our son not only from family but from his doctors and counselors. This advice proved to be very beneficial in the outcome of our case. Jim is extremely knowledgable regarding the court room and was an asset to our son in his defenxe. I would strongly recommend Jim to anyone who needs help with a defense case.

My husband and I hired James E. Simpson to defend our 21 year old son for his sentencing hearing regarding possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in a previous court appointment. At a time when we were very scared for our son and very unfamiliar with criminal court and its proceedings, Mr. Simpson was very calming; he clearly explained to us the process that the judge would go through when making a sentencing decision. He explained the pre-trial services report and the impact it would have on the judge's decision. He explained the importance of having letters sent prior to sentencing from our son's psychiatrist, from me, his mother, and the importance of personally speaking to the judge at the hearing on behalf of our son. It was very obvious at the time of the sentencing hearing how much respect the prosecutor and judge had for Mr. Simpson. Mr. Simpson was very articulate, very well informed of every detail of our son's case; he clearly itemized the steps that our son had taken over the previous 5 weeks to work on his sobriety and to position himself in a drug-rehabilitation program. Our son's sentencing guidelines were in the 2-6 years incarceration parameters. Our son received a 2 year supervised probation sentence, with each of Mr. Simpson's requests included: continuation of drug rehabilitation attendance for one year, continuation of psychiatric care/supervision, and restitution. We feel through Mr. Simpson's exemplary preparation and presentation in court, he fought successfully to give our son the best chance to rehabilitate his life; upon successful completion of this supervised probation, our son has the possibility of having his felony reduced to a misdemeanor. We would highly recommend Mr. Simpson's services for any legal representation.

I hired Jim for my reckless driving ticket. It is a 9 point criminal ticket . He got it reduced to a normal 3 point speeding ticket. Couldn't ask for much more.

Jim is a highly recommended lawyer. I got into situation and I made one phone call and that was to Jim Simpson. He did everything for me and made me feel important. He kept me informed and did all the work for me.
He got my criminal misdemeanor to a small civil charge. I am happy with the results and would use him again in any situation.

Six months ago our lives got really disrupted, our teen age son was wrongfully accused of sexual assault, Jim was the second lawyer we interviewed, I was very surprised when I called his office and explained to the receptionist our case and in less than two hours I got a call from Jim himself even though he was on vacation and gave me his cell phone number, when we met him I immediately felt confident on his expertise on the matter, six months later the charge was dropped and our lives are slowly returning to normal.

When I got my DUI I wasn't really sure who to go to. I looked online and found James Simpson. He was very knowledgeable on everything we asked about. He walked us through what the process would be like, which was very long. He worked on the case as best as he could and found out some very good information that saved me from a lot more trouble then I could have been in. If I would have gone through this whole process without him, I would have been in bad shape. I would recommend anybody thinking about getting a Lawyer to call Mr. Simpson up and schedule an appointment with him. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable as well. Thank you Jim so much for everything you did for my case.

I rate James excellent because He was very professional and He was able to down size my Criminal speeding tiket to just a trafic
violation. I have a CDL license (truck driver) and that saved my job.

From our first meeting, my wife and I were very impressed with the knowledge, integrity and respect we received from Mr. Simpson. We felt that he truly cared about my case and the affects it could have on me and my family. He worked diligently to get the best possible outcome. His representation is very much appreciated.

Being leery of attorneys overall & after being picked up on a 5 year old warrant for an alleged domestic violence, I started searching the net for answers to some specific questions regarding the possibility of my defending myself 'pro se.' I was contacted by Jim after submitting my questions online. He answered my concerns with a calm & comfortable demeanor & exerted no pressure whatsoever for me to retain him.
I set an appointment for consultation & after observing his relaxed & confident style and (in my opinion) his retainer being much more reasonable than other quotes I'd gotten, since he wasn't pressuring me for lavish thousands, I retained him.
Unlike most attorneys in which I'd had past experience (promising the moon & delivering nothing), whatever Jim said, Jim did. After retaining him, he answered every call personally and if I left a message, my calls were returned in a very reasonable time (again, a surprising, rare & unusual experience in dealing with most attorneys).
I was facing two charges and although the State's evidence was both limited & questionable, I was expecting either a 'plea' offer or a full blown trial. Prior to retaining Jim, I made a court appearance on my own & was treated in a very condescending manner so I had good reason to expect them to move forward without hesitation.
When trial day arrived (this time Jim at my side), the State did something that totally shocked me. They moved to dismiss all charges & dropped the case. There is no doubt in my mind they would not have done that had I chosen the 'pro se' road. I believe a combination of their weak case & the fact that Jim was a former Prosecutor, they decided that if they were to move forward, they would have lost. I don't believe they would have made that move if Jim weren't by my side.
When the case was dismissed, I joked with Jim asserting : ' For doing nothing Jim, you did a great job.' Tongue in cheek, on the one hand, he did 'nothing' but stand there & be noticed but on the other, even doing nothing sent a powerful enough message (I believe) that the State knew better than to challenge on their evidence. So Jim.....in 'doing nothing,' you did the best everything you could have done for a client & indeed were the most competent, knowledgeable & trustworthy attorney that I have ever encountered. I mean that & I would not hesitate to use, or recommend you to anyone.

Jim Simpson is an excellent attorney. He helped me with my DUI. I was so scared because I had never been in trouble with the law before. Jim kept reassuring me that everything would be okay. He communicated with me throughout the entire process. Not only did he get my sentence reduced but he is now helping me (a year later) with some additional DMV hassles that have come up free of charge. He is not your typical lawyer. He actually cares about his clients. I would recommend Jim Simpson to anyone. Hopefully I will never need him again but if something did come up I would know exactly where to go. Thank you, Jim

Jim was a tremendous help to me in my DUI case. He was aggressive and communicative and managed to keep me relaxed and focused during a stressful trial. In the end he was able to use the facts of the case to paint a picture of reasonable doubt, leading to the jury returning a verdict of "Not Guilty". I would highly recommend Mr. Simpson's services.

Took a very difficult case and worked through it until it worked for us.

Jim Simpson did a great job with my felony DUI case even though the court refused to give us a second testing of the blood. Jim really did everything he could to ensure we got the best possible deal, and kept me informed of all proceedings along with possible options available to us. Jim also made sure I was comfortable with his recommended course of actions and spoke to me with a "reality tone" by not selling me the world when all I needed to hear was the truth. Everything went exactly how he said it would go to this date.

Mr.Simpson is a man of integrity. Our son was accused of sexual assault, which brought our lives to a dreaded nightmare. We had never had to deal with such a matter of this magnitude. In our desperate search to find a lawyer we came across many criminal lawyers. Some were way over our price range and some wouldn't take our case. So we narrowed it down to 3 lawyers and reviewed all, Mr. Simpson being one of them. He was the most distinguished from the other two due to his profile and biography. He reviewed my son's sexual assault allegation case which was a case without bond. Our son was facing 5-15 years in prison. Despite the negative outlook, Mr. Simpson took the case. He provided us with a payment plan we could work with, and the expertise my son needed for his defense. He made sure my sons rights were not violated. Mr. Simpson worked deligently and patiently with my son, myself, and our entire family. Mr. Simpson's dedication and hard work lead us in the right direction. In less than three months our son was back to his normal life. All charges were dropped! As Mr. Simpson stated in the beginning, "We Will Fight a Good Fight!" He kept his word. I now thank God and Mr. Simpson.

After a family tragedy, things went south in a hurry. I was charged with a DUI and and a possibly serious felony charge. Jims experience on both sides of the aisle was key in having my DUI dropped to a Reckless Driving and my possible felony to nothing more than a class and some community service. Our family today has weathered our storm because of Jims' extremely capable handling of my legal affairs. Please consider his services should you find yourself in similar circumstances.

I live in n.y. and got an extreme d.u.I. in Arizona 2 years ago. I needed to clear it up to get my license so I hired Mr. Simpson. He was fair on price and helped with payments. He looked into my license and found a couple problems. Got warrants lifted and had everything set up so I can fly to az, go to court, and fly back home and be done with it. Now I have my license back! Couldn't have done it without him. Thanks you Mr. Simpson!
And this review is no b.s.
This guy is awesome.
