Outcome: A settlement was reached in which defendant pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of 2nd degree homicide with remaining charges dismissed. More importantly, the judge recommended that defendant should serve no more than 5 years in prison.

Description: A father faced life in prison when he was charged with 1st degree homicide of his infant son, including two counts of "intentional infliction of serious physical injury". Competing theories of the baby's cause of death made for a highly technical case, involving medical experts and countless pieces of evidence. Much of the debate surrounded the scientifically controversial theory of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
