Ashley Hughes has been an attorney, licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado, since 2010. She has practiced exclusively in the realm of family law since being admitted to the Colorado bar. Using this experience in domestic relations cases, Ms. Hughes has developed expertise in cases such as:
Ms. Hughes obtained her BA in 2006 from the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in Sociology with a minor in Political Science. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 2010.
Ashley Hughes is an exceptional family law attorney who believes in compassionate and zealous advocacy for her clients. Ms. Hughes has extensive knowledge of family law, case law precedent, and the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure. Ms. Hughes uses her skills to gain advantages for her clients and to establish a well-founded, reasonable position for her clients. She believes it is her primary role to serve as an ally for individuals going through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. The process is rarely easy and it can often be long and cumbersome, but by having a knowledgeable, pragmatic, diligent attorney, the impact can be lessened.
Ms. Hughes began her legal career at a Father’s rights firm in Colorado, assisting primarily men with issues concerning parenting time, child support and helping these clients navigate the complex and often overwhelming legal system. Prior to completing law school, through both her Consumer and Housing Law Clinic and her Family Law clinic, Ms. Hughes completed nearly 1,000 hours of assistance to low income clients in the District of Columbia, which has provided her with a strong backdrop to assist clients in the domestic litigation field, allowing her to work closely with individuals from all backgrounds and advocate on behalf of individuals who otherwise may not have a voice.
As an intern, Ms. Hughes also worked with two prosecutors offices in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the District of Columbia which provided her with ample litigation experience but also honed her skills in strategic negotiation. Ms. Hughes' ability to settle cases along with her shrewd litigation skills allows her to consistently achieve positive results for her clients, especially if children are involved.
Ms. Hughes is a member of the Ben S. Wendelken Inns of Court, which allows her to participate in activities with those in the El Paso County Legal Community. She also participates in volunteer activities, through the El Paso County Bar Association, having volunteered at the Marion House in Colorado Springs. She has also acted as a Mock Trial Judge for both the University of Denver Law School and the Northern Colorado High School Mock Trial Tournament.
