Mark Finlayson, lied to us about “it is just a matter of educating these folks (the “professionals”), bring things to an end in Probate court” and “all the criminal charges will all go away”. He admitted the laws are out-dated, and like a labyrinth. “So I just have to educate them (the Conservator) . . . . . . Families do this all the time . . . . . . . the legislature is rather Draconian. “
He also did not inform us how to “Motion to Object” to obscene fees of $16,000 times 2, charged by other "player" in this deadly game. He even lied on the bill he submitted to the court "from Trust" and he knew it was from my drained pocket. Really not worth a penny and in fact tied my hands from defending myself.
I am out of state, from the land of lawyers in the Washington DC metro area. I had great luck with Mark in Colorado Springs. I found him to be extremely perceptive and knowledgeable in elder law. he was very cordial and settled my father's nerves. He provided us with invaluable assistance and on short notice. Moreover, his fees were VERY affordable and reasonable. I can't speak highly enough for him. Anyone who rates this attorney at anything less than excellent must have a chip on their shoulder or had a bad case and they are now blaming the attorney for their own mess.
BEWARE. This lawyer seems nice but do not let that fool you. There are many fees for everything he does and he does not respond to your phone calls. His receptionist is very inconsiderate and will blame you for whatever has happened with his services you did not like. I had left phone calls detailing an issue and instead of calling me back he took it upon himself to fix it how he thought was best which cost me more money. It took me 9 months to get something that I was told would be easier for the lawyer to do because it required a trip to the court house. I could have done the work in less than 9 months and I would have done it right the first time. They did not do it right SEVERAL times and I had to pay, plus he did not offer anything for his office screw ups. The reason I say they is that I think his receptionist was part of the reason for all the screw ups. I wish I had never met this lawyer.
Extremely costly, does not keep his word and promises to get back to me; but never does. I have lost about everything due to him.
We contacted Mr. Finlayson for trust/will documents. He said he would get back to us in a couple of weeks. 2 months pasted , we didn't here anything from him. I called to say that since he didn't seem to want our business that we need the papers back that he had taken and his secretary got very snippy with me. I would have been understanding if he had just called and said that other things had gotten in the way, but he would start working on it. Maybe that's just lawyers?
