Summary: Attorney, crisis communications and political strategist experienced in governmental affairs, campaign management, regulatory compliance, and media relations. In addition to owning and operating her own firm, she is a principal with Henley Public Affairs (www.HenleyPublicAffairs), and also serves as executive director of Colorado’s Open Government Institute ( Highlighted as one of Colorado’s most influental women (Examiner), she has been named a “PR Force to be reckoned with” (Westword) and a top political “Mover and Shaker” (Colorado Statesman).


Legal/Public Policy: Over the last decade, Ms. Peck has advised dozens of ideologically diverse public interest organizations, small businesses, and campaigns. She was a Top-Three Finalist for the 2010-2011 Colorado Bar Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award. She is admitted to practice in Colorado, U.S. District Court of Colorado and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. In 2008, as the executive director of the Colorado Civil Rights Initiative, she successfully defeated opposition efforts to remove the initiative from the state ballot, also fending off a failed effort, including a Colorado Supreme Court challenge, to qualify an opposition measure. Paredes et al v. Corry, No. 08SA89 (Colo. 2008). Today, she serves on the U.S. Civil Rights Commission’s Colorado Advisory Committee, where she co-chairs the subcommittee on educational due process. In 2004, she was the Republican nominee for the Colorado Senate’s 19th District.


Media/Communication: Ms. Peck is a panelist for “Battleground Colorado”, an interactive editorial board hosted by The Denver Post. She can often be seen on KBDI’s “Colorado Inside Out” and other local public affairs programming. Previously, she was an on-air panelist for FOX’s ”Fox Box”, a weekly feature offering humorous takes on American politics. Her columns, frequently spotlighting client-specific causes, are carried by a wide array of publications, including Huffington Post and Human Events. She wrote for The Denver Post’s from 2007 to 2009. Past media coverage includes the Wall Street Journal, the Times of London, Colorado Lawyer, Law Week, Washington Post, Newsweek, New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR, MTV, Reason, Slate, the TODAY Show, MSNBC and FOX News, among many others.


Ms. Peck is the recipient of the Phillips Foundation’s Robert Novak Fellowship, an award under which she is completing a book titled Victim Nation. She began her career as a print reporter with the Indianapolis Star, after which she served as a press secretary in the U.S. Senate. She has experience in nearly every media medium, having worked as a radio show producer, a sideline statistician, an editor, and a broadcast writer. She honed her skills through her tenure with the media relations staff for the University of Colorado’s athletic department, research fellowships with National Journal’s CongressDaily and CNN’s “New Economy” series, and as a freelancer with ESPN’s Monday Night Football, Gannett and multiple Colorado newspapers. She has covered major national and international events, including economic forums, professional sporting events, the 9-11 terrorist attacks, campus riots, reconciliation efforts in high-conflict regions, the Columbine High School shootings and national party conventions.


Education: Ms. Peck earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver on full scholarship, an MA with honors in Government from the Johns Hopkins University and a BS with honors in Journalism from the University of Colorado. She is the recipient of multiple national fellowships and awards, and has studied at notable institutions across the globe, including Prague’s Charles University, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and at the University of the Netherlands Antilles. She has traveled to nearly every U.S. state and to more than 40 countries..
