During my mediation session with my ex-husband, Kathlyn:
1) Did not defend me when my ex verbally attacked me in front of everyone. She didn't so much as say, "You can't talk to my client that way" or, "Counselor please control your client."
2) After we were split into separate rooms, Kathlyn did not bring up my interests ONCE. My interests, which are in the best interest for my daughter, are to get 50/50 parenting time, change schools for my daughter and get sole decision making for education. She never mentioned those, instead she said things like, "You are in a catch 22" and "Judges are loath to change schools".
3) While I was stretching and breathing to try and stay calm, Kathlyn thought it appropriate to tell me all about her liberal arts degree and how her and her husband are looking to buy a house.
4) At the end of the mediation session, instead of walking out with me to talk about how the session went and discuss next steps, she stayed and chit-chatted with my ex-husband and his lawyer!
These are the facts and this is why I fired her.
Kathlyn helped me through the most difficult time in my life. She not only understands the law, but she knows how to connect with people on a human level. She really kept me informed on what was going on and would make sure I was informed before any proceeding. It was the little things she did that makes her a great attorney. If I had to go through the same ordeal again, I would definately seek her counseling.
Kathlyn is a hard worker and smarter than almost any other attorney I know. She is also patient and explains everything very well! She is also very connected in the community both legally and personally - and has professional contacts in nearly every jurisdiction.
