Joanne P Underhill

also known as Joanne Parsons Underhill

About me

I grew up on Air Force bases as the daughter of an Air Force pilot.   I went east to finish college as one of the first women undergraduates at Yale University.  I spent a few years as a staff member for a senator and congressman on Capitol Hill.  Realizing I had no natural talent for politics, I earned my law degree, practiced law at a large D.C. firm, then joined the Federal Home Loan Bank Board and the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation as a trial attorney and Assistant General Counsel.  My eight years as a Washington, D.C. lawyer gave me an insider's view of bank regulatory compliance and administrative agency litigation and introduced me to antitrust, oil and gas price control, banking and real estate litigation.  When I moved to Colorado in 1986, I returned to private practice at "downtown" law firms.  Since 1994, I have practiced with my husband, Jim, at Underhill & Underhill, P.C.  in the Denver Tech Center.  I have been active in the Colorado women's business community for many years.  I was active in Girl Scouting during my daughter's high school years and supported my son's Boy Scouting career as well.
