I always thought there was no way I would ever get arrested in my life. Trust me, trouble can find anyone. My situation was truly an accidental mistake, but regardless, I found myself in a bit of trouble with the authorities. Michael King was quick to answer my questions and quick to handle my case. I really appreciate that I could contact Michael King by email, phone, or text. He is certainly dedicated and determined, and he really helped me big time. If you have been arrested or are being investigated, do not hesitate to give Michael King a call.
I've been a lawyer for over 25 years and a criminal lawyer working in Lubbock for over 23 years. I am very familiar with the criminal bar in Lubbock. I worked with Mr. King for over five years at the federal public defender's office in Lubbock. We tried cases and worked closely together during that time. If I am ever charged with a criminal offense, I would hire Michael to defend me. That is the highest praise I can think of: Who would a lawyer hire to defend herself, if she were ever a criminal defendant? The answer for this long-time, successful criminal lawyer is: Michael King
Michael King was very informative and straight to the point, I gave him no reason for believing me in our first meeting but he followed through, I will say this if arrested and you are in fact innocent come see michael he will get your case dropped. That being said thank you michael for all your good work.
Michael King explained the charges on the first meeting and explained the possible outcomes. He was with me for every interview and was willing to listen to my explanations. He is knowledgeable and comfortable in the courtroom. I would recommend him and he will be very honest about all proceedings and possibilities.
First off, before I hired Mr. King i had another lawyer I will not mention, he wanted me to plead guilty to a charge i did not believe i was guilty of. That is when i knew that lawyer was not the one for me. I wanted someone who would throw anything and anyone under the bus just to make sure I was taken care of! I wanted someone who listened to me as if I were their friend or family member coming in need of help. I found that and so much more in Michael King! He always made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. He's one of the friendliest guys I've ever known, says hi to everyone and they say hi right back. He is always several steps ahead of everyone else. You feel like your the center of his attention during the tough times your going through. He's very easily accessible, always there for you. I owe so much to Michael King, he's the best of the best. Friend for life.
Mr. King was appointed to me as my Federal attorney in 2007. I was one of his first clients I believe, he and I built a friendship over the long drawn out process that it takes with the federal court system. I was not in a good place prior to my incarceration. I did receive exactly what we wanted from the courts and for that I was very grateful. I was sentenced to 3 years in the Federal prison system therefore, I could participate in RDAP which is the drug program. I truly needed this program, I am an addict and always will be! Once out of prison and on probation as some of us do I violated again Mr. King was my attorney and this time I was given a downward departure on my sentence! Thanks to his knowledge of the system and that was with a DWI conviction just so you know. And, the last time I called Mr. King was after he was on his own and I was in a panic I had three weeks till I was off of probation and I was being accused of a dirty UA and once again with his help and the resources of the medical profession he was able to prove it was in fact a false positive and I completed the four years of my Federal probation. But, I would most defiantly hire Mr. King and recommend him he knows the Federal system and he helped me all three times and I always got lectured out of love but, he has helped me be the person I am becoming Thank You!
Michael was phenomenal with our daughter's case. She was originally charged with DWI, and ultimately through Michael's constant and professional efforts, the charge was reduced to reckless driving. Michael was supportive not just from a legal standpoint, but was always available for basic counsel and reassurance. He is truly exceptional at what he does.
While he was at the federal public defender's office, Michael King represented my son on a felony charge. Mr. King was utterly professional and compassionate at the same time. I believe he had a clear grasp of the pertinent law, and diligently applied it to the facts of my son's case. He was very focused on the trial at hand, but remembered that the event was a very stressful time for my son and his family. He explained what he was doing, answering any question that he could. Even though he could not share as much with me (since I was not actually his client), he explained the law so that I could be as prepared as possible for whatever might happen, while giving me a lot of reason to trust him with my son. Though he could not guarantee any particular result, I had the utmost confidence he had done everything possible to vigorously defend my son. His passion for the law, and for criminal defense was clear. I would definitely recommend Michael King to anyone.
I faced felony charges in federal court a few years back; Title 18 U.S.C. 1001 and 1519 and 2, if I recall correctly. I stood accused of falsifying federal documents and intent to deceive federal agents. The prosecution was uncooperative, hostile, and used... dubious methods in their prosecution. Had I been convicted, I would have been branded a felon for the rest of my life. I would have been kicked out of the military I had only just joined. I would likely never have had the chance to go back to college. I would have faced some prison time and a lifetime with many of my basic citizen's rights revoked.
Enter Mr. King and his team.
Mr. King was assigned as my public defender early on in the trial. He kept me informed of every possible detail of events as they unfolded, and gave me realistic expectations.
He told me exactly what was likely to happen with each choice that was presented to me, and made no bones about the risks I'd be taking with each path I took, such as the choice between taking a plea bargain and fighting the charges.
He was honest enough to tell me that he wanted to fight the charges, and yet did not pressure me into doing so. He made it clear that it would be riskier than accepting the bargain.
He helped me review evidence, contact witnesses and build my case with utmost diligence, even when stonewalled by a prosecution who was slow to release any exculpatory evidence.
He was also an excellent team player, as evidenced by the people he had working with and for him, who were similarly diligent, professional, and amiable.
He knew his stuff. He was able to cross-reference trial precedents, interpret statutes, find rules of evidence, and locate federal sentencing guidelines like it was second nature. If I had a question, he had an answer.
He helped me present my own testimony to my actions, to present an accurate but still compelling statement. He even helped keep me accountable by correcting me when I misspoke on the stand; a testament to his dedication and honesty.
He was courteous and professional, yet still someone you could feel very at ease talking with on a personal level, which helped during the stress of a trial with so much at stake for me, and helped put my family at ease as well. Come what may, I knew he was doing his level best, and doing it right.
Months of preparation and three days in court later, I was acquitted of all charges.
In short, Mr. King was an excellent attorney because he was an excellent man. And for that, I am grateful. Anyone else should be more than happy to have someone like him in their corner.
