Attorney and Counselor at Law
Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Andy Garbe was a gold-miner, weather observer on offshore oilrigs, and finally spent sixteen years as a paramedic with the Anchorage Fire Department. Andy and his wife, Christie, moved to Austin in 2005 so that he could attend law school at the University Texas. During law school, Andy clerked for the City of Austin Law Department and participated in the Criminal Defense and Actual Innocence clinics. After graduation, Andy headed north for a one-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Stephanie Joannides in Anchorage. Andy’s clerkship gave him insight into how judges think and what they look for in ruling on a case.
Prior to opening the Garbe Law Firm, Andy Garbe prosecuted cases in Austin Municipal Court and the Downtown Austin Community Court. He has tried hundreds of cases before judges and juries, and resolved thousands more. Andy also taught trial skills to newly hired prosecutors and has instructed hundreds of APD officers about testifying in court. Andy knows how prosecutors and police officers think and will put that knowledge to work for you.
