I have used Mr. Van Gilder on many legal matters over the years; this one being the most personal.  I am embroiled in a contentious custody mater.  Mr. Van Gilder’s experience and expertise have been instrumental in:

- navigating the legal complexities surrounding the case

- addressing the countless nefarious actions of the opposing party

- parallel preparation; anticipated multiple potential paths avoiding surprises and process stumbles

Throughout the process Mr. Van Gilder has always been focused on the welfare of the children involved.  In addition Mr. Van Gilder has been great at making himself available to address concerns and issues that arise; educating me and reducing my level of angst.  I believe this level of compassion places him in an elite class.  I highly recommend both Mr. Van Gilder and his entire team of exceptional professionals.

 

Derek laid our worries to rest with our child custody case. He hit the floor running and never stopped until the job was done. We had one of the most unusual cases he had come across. We won our case. His experitise makes him a remarkable attorney. He is professional and compassionate at his job. He even helped us with reviewing our closing documents when we bought our home. He is the only attorney I will use.

I hired Derek for a relatively simple case...access to my shared driveway. 19 months later and several thousands of dollars...nothing has been done. Several "unetical" things were done by him. I fired him and now have a great attorney that is helping me with my case.....

Derek Van Gilder is, without doubt, the modern Perry Mason. He is extremely responsive to our needs, gets back to us right away, intuits what we are feeling and is exceedingly knowledgeable. He has a wonderful sense of humor and knows when to use it to diffuse a tense or uncomfortable situation.In this day and age, it is a pleasure to meet a lawyer with such a high moral standards. He is an honest lawyer who knows when to fight and when to hold back. He has beautiful manners and it is a pleasure to deal with him.

I was in a car accident in 2002, and was in the hospital for several months. There were also many months of recovery. My husband and began fighting with an auto maker about a faulty seatbelt. The seatbelt released me during that wreck, and therefore allowed me to be thrown from the van. We were not getting any where and that is when we hired

took some time to get a settlement from this auto maker, they had to

This man took me for a substancial amount of money and did not represent me at all.. He took my case, gave me empty promise's , and did nothing but take my money and give me nothing! The agreements and evidence in the case were all provided to him, He did nothing to protect, or fight for my son and I. It is not the results in the case that are so upestting, (because nothing is for sure) but the effort put forth in the representation. This man as well as all lawyers sware by oath to represent to their highest abiltiy. As for my case there was no effort presented, period. I have learned from my mistake, and hope that other people do not make the same mistake i did.

Derek Van Gilder has represented our corporation since its inception in 1985. Throughout the 24 years of the existence of the corporation, Derek represented the shareholders and the corporation on several legal cases including a receivership case in the Bastrop District Court, and petitions which were filed with the Texas Supreme Court.
Our corporate case had to be handled in 2 States of California and Texas. Although there were other attorneys involved in both states, Derek stood out within them as being the most diligent and effective. Our complex civil litigation in Texas was pursued all the way to the Texas Supreme Court. Over the last few years, Derek was the lead attorney and counsel for our case guiding the legal team through numerous court hearings, petitions and final trial and settlement of the case. Derek’s honesty, legal knowledge, thoroughness, and performance throughout the years exceeded my expectations. Derek also chose other attorneys for our case that proved to be very valuable as the case ended up in our favor. Derek treated our case as a priority and as it was the only case he was handling. Derek has direct experience in the engineering, construction and legal profession. I believe that gives him a better perspective of most issues than the attorney who has only practiced law. Derek Van Gilder Represented our corporation (Zapa Interests Inc.) since its inception in 1985. Effective December 31, 2009 the corporation ceased to exist and it was dissolved by the remaining shareholders. Throughout the 24 years of the existence of the corporation, Derek represented the shareholders and the corporation on several legal cases and most importantly during the last four and half years of shareholders’ legal cases and corporation’s receivership in the Bastrop District Court and petitions filed with the Texas Supreme Court.

My experience with Mr. Van Gilder was very unpleasant. He is not trustworthy, unprofessional, and not ethical when he handled my case. I do not recommend his service.
