Hi, I received the negative response from immigration one month after my interview. I would like to now how long it takes for my second interview once I appeal as I have documents that the first officer did not asked me to submit? thanks in advance

I agree with my colleague. Generally it is better to file a new application rather than wait for a date for your appeal.

  • I am citizen of the U.K. Married to a citizen of the U.S. Can we get ILR whilst still in U.S. Or do we need to be in England?

We intend to spend most of our time in the U.S. (New York City) but will travel and stay in England for approx 1 to 2 months a year. Also need to get green card, so would like to see if we can do both together or need to do one at a time.

    Alexus’s Answer

It would be best to stay in the US and apply for your green card which can take 4 to 6 months. Once you have your green card you can leave the US to England with the green card.

  • Can I revert back to maiden name on U.S. citizenship application despite married name on green card?

Marriage cert & greencard have maiden + married name, but for U.S. nationalization I want only my maiden name. Is the name on the certificate supposed to be my legal name in this country? I never changed any other document.

    Alexus’s Answer

I am confused by your question. Your green card is a legal document with your name. Your marriage certificate is also a legal document with your name. You are allowed to change your name when you become a US citizen. It may be best to see an attorney to assist you.
