    If your insurance carried improperly denied the claim you have a cause of action against them for violations of Chapter 542 of the Texas Insurance Code. That section entitles you to 18% interest and attorney fees. Chapter 542 is strict liability without a good faith exception. If they denied the claim when they knew they had to pay it could be bad faith as well as violations of Chapter 541 of Texas Insurance Code and Chapter 17 of the Business and Commerce Code.     I've had insurance companies ask for text messages before during their investigation. Its important to note at what point that ask for phone records and text messages because carriers have a limited amount of time to ask for more information. Its also fairly common for an insurance company to ask for an examination under oath for a matter such as this. Depending on the circumstances you may want to employ an attorney
