  • I backed out of my garage and bumped into a car parked across the street. Am I liable to pay damages? Nobody witnessed the bump.

The car was parked across the street from my garage. I reported the incident to the owner of the car . About for weeks after the incident I received a bill of $380.00. Should I pay this amount?

    Coby’s Answer

You are most likely responsible for any damage to the vehicle based upon what you have indicated in your question. The issue is what is reasonable amount to repair the vehicle. You might ask to get an independent appraisal of the costs to repair the damage. But be careful, you do not want to get estimates that exceed the $380.00 they proposed to you.

    and neck

    Coby’s Answer

You need to seek appropriate medical care if needed. At the same time you should seek a free consultation with a personal injury attorney regarding any potential claims you may have against whoever caused the collision. In the meantime I would not talk to any insurance adjuster until you have had the attorney consult.

As long as your attorney is licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas it doesn't matter where the attorney's office is located. He or she can practice state wide.

If there was probable cause to think that you were driving under the influence then it has nothing to do with the cause of the accident that can be totally different. The bigger problem here is that is your son is a minor then you can be charged with a felony. You need to consult with a criminal attorney on a different message board.

  • I was injured in an auto ax. Found an orthopedic surgeon who advertised that he accepted PIP insurance. Now his office tells me

that they only accept it for 2 visits. Neither the advertisement nor the paper work mention this. Now, he says that I owe and must pay the balance, because he doesn't accept partial payment. If I want to continue with him I must pay upfront $500 ...

    Coby’s Answer

Most PIP insurance coverages are only $2,500.00. Unfortunately this will not pay for very much in the way of medical care. If there was some sort of misunderstanding then maybe you have a face to face meeting with the doctor about the terms of your agreement with his office. If the auto accident was not your fault then you should consult with a personal injury attorney about your damages which would include reasonable medical care. Most personal injury attorney's do not charge for the initial consultation.
