I hired Mr. Platten to represent me for being arrested for DWI with my children in the car. This is a felony offense and I was looking at loosing everything. This was a difficult time but Mr. Platten was very encouraging.
Erick was able to keep me from having a conviction and I still have custody of my children.
I spoke with four other attorney's before deciding on him. He is well worth the money to get your life back on track.

I was charged with manslaughter in Freestone County. Tragically a very good person died from a head on collision that occurred on a rainy night. I hired Erick because he has a reputation for helping people. Erick worked hard to show this accident could have happened to anyone.

My case involved a Property Owners' Association’s (POA) bullying, calculative, and disingenuous security guards and local law enforcement individuals that sought to assist them in their efforts to cause harm to a citizen. I was assaulted by one of these security guards, but instead of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office getting the bad guy, they chose to mess with my life and charge me with two felony crimes.
I was completely heartbroken. I could not believe that the government I engage in allowing to govern over me was taking such an irresponsible stance against me. Through the ups and downs of the emotional roller coaster the Wood County Texas Criminal Prosecutors sent me on, I became inspired to fight them at their own game and to send them a message through my peers in the community.
Still thoroughly frightened from the false allegations against me, I researched attorneys in my search for one to handle the tall task at hand. When my research concluded, there was ONE attorney that stood out from the rest. His name: Erick Masten Platten.
I contact Mr. Platten’s office in Tyler, set an appointment with his courteous and professional office staff, and met with Mr. Platten within hours. I found Mr. Platten to be professional, empathetic, and extremely focused. I can understand an attorney’s apprehension to a potential client’s claim that the police, prosecutors, and alleged victim are not telling the truth. Whether Mr. Platten had those same indicated apprehensions, you would have to ask him. I don’t know because at the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Platten sought to accept consideration, enter into a representation agreement, and start the process of getting law enforcement straight – congruent with the standards the public expects from those entrusted with governing.
Along the way, Mr. Platten explained to Wood County Officials that what they were doing was wrong. That they needed to get off his client’s back, or suffer the consequence of being told by twelve individuals of the community that their actions of accusing me were OUTRAGEOUS and OUT-OF-LINE! Wood County Criminal District Attorneys did not listen to Mr. Platten, to their detriment. In less than 12 minutes… less than 720 seconds… twelve citizens of this great State picked a jury foreman, deliberated, and signed and delivered NOT GUILTY.
While this NOT GUILTY result, in part, was the evidence, the speed and the exclamation point put on the NOT GUILTY verdict by the jurors was because of the masterful skills represented by Mr. Platten. His connection with potential jurors and the clinic he put on in picking my jury was nothing short of magnificent. During the trial the connection with the jury continued. Like me, the jury believed Mr. Platten and what he had to say. They hung on every carefully chosen and expertly articulated word Erick uttered because they realized what I already knew. What Mr. Platten says MATTERS!
Law enforcement officials would serve themselves well by coming to the same conclusion. What Mr. Platten says MATTERS!
If you need assistance in your problem with the law. There is a choice. There are considerations to be made. But if you need to WIN. If you need a NOT GUILTY verdict. If you need to send a message to law enforcement. There is only ONE choice and only ONE consideration to make, and that is to hire Mr. Erick Platten to represent you.

He did a great job with my case. We were able to get a non-disclosure order from the judge, as I requested! He was also very easy to get in contact with and also in answering any questions I had during the process.

I found Erick here on AVVO when I was looking for a DWI lawyer. I chose him because of all of his positive reviews he has received, and it was the BEST decision I could have made!
I got pulled over leaving a bar in early 2014. It took 15 months for this to finally come to a resolution. Erick filed a Motion to Suppress the case because he felt that the State Trooper who pulled me over the night of the DWI arrest had violated my rights and had no legal justification to pull me over. During the hearing, Erick was very well articulated at getting his points and reasoning across to justify the suppression and he WON !
The judge ruled in favor of the suppression and the case was dismissed. Erick was very determined to give me the best shot at getting off of the charges. He was very honest with me from day 1 after seeing all the evidence and knew he could have a real shot at getting it thrown out and he was right. He never once tried to get me to accept a plea deal or just offer me probation. He was willing to take it all the way to the end and fight for me.
The case kept getting pushed over and over due to various reasons but Erick was very comforting along the way in making me feel good about the whole situation. A dwi case that drags on can take a toll on you, but Erick was always very good at making me feel that there was a "light at the end of the tunnel". He kept me informed along the entire 15 months and responded to all of my emails, call, and text messages in a timely manner if I ever had a question.
When I was first calling around trying to find a lawyer, there are some less expensive lawyers out there than Erick but I am a true believer in "you get what you pay for", and Erick was worth every penny of his services.
I would recommend Erick to everyone out there who may end up needing his services. He certainly lives up to all of the great reviews he has received.

I heard about mr. Platten through my uncle. My case was over a car wreck and a man died in the wreck and I was charged with a state jail felony. Mr. Platten got it reduced to deferred probation. He is a nice knowledgeable man who knows what he is doing. I strongly recommend him.

Mr. Platten helped me with my DWI. If this went on my record I could have possibly lost my job. It was very embarrasing and it was very hard on me. I read a review on here and then spoke to him. He did a good job getting my case taken care of. The DWI was reduce to another charge and and got the results I had hoped for. He is very knowledgable and is a very nice guy. I would reccomend him again. Thank You

Summer 2013 Driving north on Highway 155. I was arrested for DWI and taken to jail without a shirt on my back literally. My wife contacted Erick Platten, he came down to the jailhouse in the middle of the night got me out of jail, put a shirt on my back and told me not to worry about a thing. At this point my future was looking grim. Erick Platten reassured me that this whole thing would just go away. After that night, I never heard another thing about my DWI arrest, somehow Erick was able to just make this whole thing go away there was never a case filed against me, nothing on my record, it all just went away Wow!

Summer 2013, I was driving North on Highway 155 heading home. I had just left the lake towing my boat. I was arrested for DWI taken to jail with no shirt on my back literally. Things are looking very grim for me. Erick Platten saved the day and my future, he advised me to sit tight not to worry he would make this whole thing go away. Some how Mr. Platten was able to make the DWI not even get filed into the system. I never heard another thing about it Wow!

My husbands charges could've gotten him up to ten years in prison, but thanks to Mr. Platten, he only had to serve a week. The case took less then a month from start to close. Great lawyer!
