Ward has been active in the community doing volunteer work, fundraising and pro bono legal work for a number of organizations, including theAmerican Heart Association, the MS150 Bike Ride to Cure Multiple Sclerosis and the Lake Highlands Exchange Club. He is the general counsel and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Child Abuse Prevention Center, now called Family Compass.
Ward received his bachelor’s degree from Austin College in 1963 and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1965. He was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1965 and authorized to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1969.
