About Me

Mr. Chopin  practices in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance coverage, tort and casualty defense, admiralty and maritime litigation, and professional liability.   He is also qualified as a Civil and Domestic Mediator pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statutes §§ 9:4106 and 9:334.


 


He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Dallas in 2002 and his Juris Doctorate with a certificate in International Law from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2007. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Staff, served on the Trial Advocacy Board, and was a member of the Executive Board for the Student Bar Association. He was also a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team and the Louisiana State Trial Team and later served as a Coach for the National Trial Advocacy Team.  Today, Mr. Chopin serves as a member of Loyola’s Skills Faculty. 


 


Mr. Chopin was a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Carl J. Barbier of the Eastern District of Louisiana and a Legal Intern for the Honorable David S. Gorbaty and the Honorable Roland Belsome of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He is actively involved in the Louisiana State Bar Association where he currently sits on the House of Delegates and previously served two terms as the District One Representative to the Young Lawyers Division. He is a member of the Committee on the Profession and the Client Assistance Fund Committee and was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as an Assistant Examiner for Civil Code I in 2014.  Mr. Chopin was awarded the Bat P. Sullivan, Jr. Chair’s Award for services to the Bar in 2011.


 


Mr. Chopin has been awarded the “AV” Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest possible rating for ethical standards and legal ability.  He was selected by Louisiana Super Lawyer’s as a Rising Star in 2012, 2013, 2014, & 2015; named by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Attorney in the fields of Admiralty/Maritime and Commercial Litigation in 2012, Commercial Litigation in 2013 and 2014, and Creditors Rights in 2014; and named by New Orleans City Business as a Top 50 Leader in Law in 2012.
