Richard Watts Morefield

also known as Rick Morefield

About me

For the past 29 years, Rick Morefield has handled lawsuits ranging from multi-million dollar business disputes to relatively simple auto accident cases.  He has helped individuals and businesses obtain justice in cases involving breach of contract, fraud, breach of partnership agreement, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, and premises liability.

Rick began his career at a large Kansas City area law firm and primarily represented the interests of large corporations and insurances companies in business litigation, insurance litigation and tort defense.  In 1993, he was one of the founders of a firm that also represented individuals and small businesses.  Most recently, he started the law firm of Morefield Speicher Bachman, LC along with Andrew Speicher and Stan Bachman.

What makes Morefield Speicher Bachman, LC unique is that the firm not only provides high-quality legal representation to individuals and businesses, but it also provides pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford an attorney.  The firm is committed to providing assistance through legal aid services and also provides free legal assistance in the areas of freedom of speech and religion.

Rick also gives back through involvement with the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) where he co-chairs the Fair Court Funding Task Force, serves as an editor of The Brief, the TIPS quarterly law magazine, and serves as a vice-chair of the Trial Techniques Committee.  He serves on the elder board of his local church, plays guitar in the worship band, and teaches an adult education class.

Rick has been recognized as a Missouri and Kansas SuperLawyer every year since 2005 and has received the Top 10 Attorney Award (Kansas) from the National Academy of Personal injury Attorneys, and Top 100 Trial Lawyers (Kansas) for the National Trial Lawyers.
