Case Conclusion Date:November 25, 2010
Description:Parties underwent a 5 year divorce with previous attorneys, where husband was recalcitrant in giving his wife a divorce pursuant to Jewish Law. I was flown out to Israel by the benevolence of the Chicago Orthodox Jewish community to litigate the case in Tel Aviv, only days after being officially retained. The trial lasted one day. My client was granted her divorce by judgement of a three judge panel. Said decision was a case of first impression. It involved two non-Israeli American citizens, yet the Court granted personal jurisdiction to pursue our claim in their court system. After said decision was published, The State Department put out a travel warning to all American husbands, who had not given their wives a Jewish divorce, traveling to the State of Israel.
