Jeremy Michael West
About MeJ. Michael West, Esq., is currently senior staff attorney with the Chicago firm of Broderick, Steiger and Maisel. Soon after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1983, Mr. West took employment as a first assistant state’s attorney. Mr. West prosecuted People v. Doss, a criminal fraud and perjury case which received national media attention, including a televised presentation by the CBS weekly news commentary, 60 Minutes. In 1986, Mr. West was appointed Senior Trial Counsel with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office under Neil Hartigan, again prosecuting numerous notable fraud and perjury trials. Since 1989, Mr. West has focused exclusively upon the prosecution and defense of civil litigation. He has taken sixty jury trials to verdict, which include not only medical malpractice trials but also products liability, construction litigation, and catastrophic injury trials, with a favorable verdict ratio of 92 percent. Mr. West received a second state licensure from the Supreme Court of California in 1989. Mr. West is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of Illinois, Southern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Ninth Circuits. |
