Alexander Loftus specializes in representing individuals in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, and abuse cases against large corporations, hospitals, nursing homes, foster care agencies, government agencies, the military, and insurance companies. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law with honors in 2010. He is admitted to practice in Illinois State Courts, Illinois Federal Courts, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Federal Trial Bar, and The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Alexander grew up in a small town in Southern Wisconsin and went to college in Saint Paul, Minnesota and Washington, D.C. In college he studied Political Science and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha (national political science honor society). While studying at American University Alexander held his first legal position as an investigator for Mental Health Division of Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. He went on to work for the general counsel of large pharmaceutical company but ultimately returned to serving those in the greatest need of legal representation as a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney.
Alexander has resolved a wide range of significant cases through mediation, arbitration, and trial, including claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and medical malpractice. Alexander has handled appeals before the Seventh Circuit, Illinois Appellate Courts, U.S. Supreme Court, and represented Amicus Curiae before the Illinois Supreme Court.
In 2012 Alexander was named a Rising Star by Law and Politics and the publishers of the Chicago Magazine for the first time, a distinction given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in the State of Illinois. In 2013 Alexander was included in the Top 40 Trial Lawyers under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers Association and rated “Superb” by AVVO an objective physician and attorney rating agency. In June of this year Alexander was awarded the William J. Harte Amicus Award by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He was the second youngest ever to receive this award.
In 2013 Alexander was included in the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Illinois by the National Trial Lawyers. Selection is based on a thorough multi-phase process which includes peer nominations combined with third-party research.
