I have a petition hearing my ex husband has against me. HE is saying i am in contempt for not signing a quick claim deed. WE verbally agreed after he made the payments for the loan ( i took a 401k loan for the property) then i would sign. It has...

    Judy’s Answer

You can file a petition for rule and it might be heard the same day but you cannot handle your case by phone. Hiring a lawyer would help a great deal but in order to defend a petition for rule, you must be available to testify. You need to make up your mind whether to participate in your court proceedings or disregard them and suffer whatever sanctions are doled out by the decision of the judge.

Although strange, your employer can require sign in and out sheets for use of the restroom. You can make a privacy argument but before doing so, consult with an employment attorney.

Do not speak to any law enforcement person. This is possibly a scam. Detectives do not usually call people and threaten to have them arrested. If you remain concerned, consult with a criminal defense lawyer.

  • Is there anything a Lawyer can do with the City, Public Works or in the Courts?

I'm a home owner in Park Ridge on Dee Road. I have a problem with my neighbor. He has a large snow-plow and truck parked in his drive-way and I though that they had to be kept in a garage? In addition to a concrete drive-way on one side, he has a...

There may be limitations on what, where and when vehicles and other large items can be parked outside in your village. Contact your village inspector and the municipal attorney. Also get a copy of the pertinent ordinance(s) for your location. I have dealt with this matter a couple of times over the years when people left unacceptable vehicles and trailers on their property or in their driveways. The answer lies within the provisions of your local ordinances.

I am from Illinois . I got divorced March 2014. My ex husband filed taxes after we were divorced on purpose claimed me and our 2 kids . In our divorce agreement it says I claim one kid he claims the other. We were supposed to split 50/50 with asse...

    Judy’s Answer

Speak to your divorce lawyer or hire a new one. If you are entitled to claim the children, then you can do so but if both of you do, your returns will be flagged and the IRS will ask for proof that he is entitled to claim them, which hew does not. You also have the issue of the $7,000. This simple online forum does not take the place for legal representation. Best wishes.

    Judy’s Answer

Unless you know how to impeach disclosure statements or stand up to the plaintiff's attorney(s) you would be very well served by at least consulting with, and probably hiring, a litigation attorney. Your case in not really one that should be handled DIY.

  • What kind of Criminal Defense could my friend raise in this situation?

Over this past weekend, a good friend of mine was at a picnic with my family and noticed a strange looking man about 10 feet away trying to discreetly take photographs of one of the toddlers (a niece) in our group. Out of nowhere, my friend jumpe...

    Judy’s Answer

You should refrain from any discussion of this matter online or anywhere else in public r even in private except with an attorney. This is not a confidential forum and you could be damaging your friend's case by discussing it publicly. Your friend is already in very serious trouble. He needs a lawyer The fact that he observed a man taking pictures does not justify the actions he took.
