A member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, Jordan is a litigation attorney at the St. Charles, Illinois law firm of Higgins & Burke P.C.
While the majority of his practice is devoted to representing families that have been victims of fraudulent investment and insurance schemes, Jordan is also an effective commercial litigation defense attorney. For example, in 2012, Jordan obtained dismissal of all claims against a client sued for mismanagement of a multi-million dollar hedge fund, while simultaneously obtaining dismissal of all claims against two clients being sued under the Illinois Trade Secrets Act with alleged losses exceeding $5,000,000.00.
Prior to joining Higgins & Burke, P.C., Jordan was the lead associate attorney with the litigation practice of Goulart & Associates, P.C. in Boulder, Colorado. During that time, Jordan secured multiple favorable judgments and settlements for his clients in a wide array of legal matters including construction defect, real estate, life/viatical settlements, and securities and business disputes. His noteworthy trials included a directed verdict in favor of a client sued for fraud in connection with a $4,000,000.00 real estate agreement and a verdict for a client who was originally brought into the suit as a defendant in a $1,000,000.00 construction case, but ended up being awarded damages from the plaintiff by the close of trial.
Leading up to becoming an attorney, Jordan enjoyed several years of experience working in various legal arenas that have shaped his perspective on what it means to effectively represent a client and advocate their cause. For example, Jordan’s previous legal experiences have included working as a law clerk for a legally blind sole practitioner, an internship with retired Appellate Judge and Illinois Legislative Inspector General of Ethics Thomas Homer and a one year clerkship with the respected Naperville, Illinois based Collins Law Firm in matters of complex litigation.
This wide array of legal experience allows Jordan to advise clients on intersecting matters across many fields of law and take creative and insightful approaches to solving his clients' legal issues.
Jordan is currently admitted to practice law in Illinois, Colorado, the United States District Courts for the Districts of Colorado and Northern Illinois, and United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado.

Jordan Dorrestein is an attorney who I attended law school with and a highly respected litigator in the legal community. His conscientious work ethic makes him a results oriented effective attorney and I would refer any one of my clients to Jordan should they require his legal expertise.
John Kim Divorce & Separation Attorney
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
When dealing with impossible deadlines and complex legal issues, Jordan is exactly the guy I want to be working with. He is willing to hit the trenches and get the hard work done, but also brings in fresh legal perspectives that strengthen anything we work on together. During the short time he has worked at H&B, he is already building an impressive resume of victories in difficult cases. Jordan wrote two motions getting two separate complex securities cases dismissed. While his hard work and new ideas are great to work with, the best part of working with Jordan is his positive and motivated attitude. I look forward to continuing to work together with him on cases, and hope I don't ever face him from the opposite side someday in the distant future.
