I co-own the law firm with my husband, Nelson L. Peralta. We came to our joint law practice with experience in different areas of law, so combined we have worked in a broad range of types of law. However, much of our work and many of our clients complement each other. Many of his immigration clients have other legal problems that I work on: an appeal to the Bureau of Immigration Appeals, a criminal case that brings them in contact with immigration authorities in the first case, an adoption that can alter the availability of deportation relief. We both enjoy being active in legal and community service activities. For us, because Nelson is Hispanic and a Spanish speaker, and our children are Hispanic and bilingual as well, many of our outside activities involve advocating for the betterment of the Latino community in areas such as education and immigration rights. And while I can't keep up with all the fluent Spanish speakers in my family, I have taken several years of Spanish and work hard to assist the Spanish-speaking clientele of our law firm.
