About me

I am a Partner at Thompson Hall Santi Cerny & Katkov and am admitted to practice before the Minnesota Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  I have extensive experience representing private and public sector clients in employment and business litigation.  I represent clients in state, federal, and bankruptcy court, and before state and federal administrative agencies.  I have litigated cases through summary judgment, jury and bench trials, and appeal.

My employment litigation practice includes representing clients in lawsuits involving claims of discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, wage and hour violations, retaliation and reprisal, whistleblower violations, wrongful termination, and breach of contract.  My business litigation practice includes representing clients in lawsuits involving non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, confidential information, trade secrets, unfair trade practices, tortious interference, defamation, fiduciary duties, shareholder and member disputes, and franchise disputes.

I also work closely with business owners and human resource professionals providing counsel in every aspect of the employment relationship, on compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and on taking preventative measures to avoid or minimize the risk of litigation.  I act as outside general counsel and litigation counsel for many established and emerging companies.  I also advise startup companies on entity selection and formation issues.

I have been recognized as a Minnesota Rising Star by Super Lawyers, a designation reserved for no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in Minnesota.  I frequently speak and write on various employment and business law subjects, recent administrative and court decisions, and changes in the law, and am often quoted by various media outlets on these topics.  I also coach moot court at William Mitchell College of Law, and I am a mentor to law students and new lawyers.
