Born and raised in Southern California, I attended Arizona State University from 1969 to 1973, graduating with honors with a bachelor of science degree in business management.
I went to law school at the University of Idaho and graduated from there in 1978. That same year I started my law practice in Anoka, Minnesota, and have not left. If you're wondering how I ended up in Anoka Minnesota, you can blame my wife, Becky. She was born and raised here and we thought it was a good place to come and raise our children (all four of them).
When I started my law office I was a solo practitioner. Shortly thereafter I went into partnership with some lawyers but, about 11 years ago I decided that my Arizona practice wasn't going to fit in well with partners in Minnesota, so I went back out on my own and expect to stay that way, more or less, for the rest of my career.
Since I started practicing law I have represented individuals injured due to the carelessness of others. The defendant is usually an insurance company of one sort or another.
After doing this for 30 years I have become pretty good at it. This past year I received the annual Excellence Award from the Minnesota Association for Justice. I have also been recognized as a Superlawyer by the Minnesota Journal of Law & Politics. I am a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice and the Arizona Association for Justice. I am also a member of the Board of Governors of the Minnesota Association for Justice. I am AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating they give. I am certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. There are currently less than 200 lawyers so certified in Minnesota.
