Unlike many attorneys, I grew up in a working-class household. My parents were not lawyers and were not rich or well connected but just everyday hardworking Americans that had to use their resources wisely. Although my parents were not able to teach me million dollar legal words or educate me on the nuances of the law, they did teach me the core values that I bring to my practice as a lawyer - heart, common sense, and a strong work ethic.
I am committed to your case and will zealously advocate for your rights. I will meticulously review your case and creatively develop strong arguments to reach just results. I will seek your input throughout the entire case so that I understand what your ultimate goal is - after all you have to live with the results. I explain your options in a straightforward way so you can participate and make well-informed, meaningful decisions that make sense to you. I care about you as a person and care about how the outcome of the case will affect your life. Being involved in the legal system is never easy, make sure you have an attorney that will advocate for your rights and care about your case.
An effective lawyer balances heart with common sense. I will not drive up litigation costs by pushing for every single argument even though it doesn't make financial sense. I am resourceful and try to reach the ultimate goal as inexpensively as possible. On one hand I do not have a fancy law office or drive an expensive car, on the other hand you benefit because I do not pass the cost of those luxuries on to my clients. My motto has always been and will always be - keep it simple!
Strong Work Ethic
I had to work and take care of a family while attending law school. Even though I had to balance family, work, and study, I consistently earned good grades and graduated from William Mitchell College of Law with honors. Although I would love to say that my grades and degrees were earned because of my intelligence, in reality they were earned because of good old-fashioned hard work and dedication. As I said I am a first generation attorney raised in a working class family and nothing has ever been handed to me. I have worked hard for all of my accomplishments and will continue to work hard for all my clients. Be rest assured that I am working on your case and fighting for your rights.

Kristen is a feisty advocate for her clients and does not take no for an answer. I was watching her at an OFP hearing once and she actually interrupted the Judge as he was ruling (against her client) to say she had a case on point that he needed to consider. The Judge stopped, took the case, called a recess so he and opposing counsel could review the case, and then continued the case for a full evidentiary hearing. It was awesome!
