I earned an Associate Degree in Biology in 1980, and then worked in blue collar/technical positions at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics, and the University of Wisconsin Biochemistry Department. After enlisting in the Army Reserve, I resumed study at the University of Wisconsin, earning additional degrees in History & History of Science, and Law.
In addition to being trained in the administration of the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Test Battery, and completing the NHTSA Faculty Development Workshops at the National Judicial College, I have lectured regularly on aspects of handling DUI and other criminal traffic cases.
I am admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of Wisconsin, as well as the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
I am a volunteer task force leader for the Wisconsin Ride for Kids. The Ride for Kids is the primary fundraiser for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States, whose mission is to find the cause of and cure for childhood brain tumors. In 2008 I also rode in the American Legion Legacy Run, which raises public awareness and funds for the America Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.
