Description:Karl represented a student who was mingling with his friends when a campus police officer pulled up to question them. The officer put Karl's client in the back of the squad car but failed to advise him of his Miranda rights. During the police questioning, Karl's client admitted to using marijuana and drinking alcohol. He was charged with possession of marijuana and minor in possession of alcohol. At a pretrial hearing, Karl got all charges dismissed. Because of the Miranda violation, the statements made by the client could not be admitted at trial.
