I hired Mike Bartish to represent me in an OWI case afer being referred to him by a family member who worked at a large law firm in Grand Rapids. It was the best advice I was ever given. I was charged with OWI after being pulled over for an "equipment violation" on my truck after driving home from a party. I took the field sobriety stests and PBT as requested and was arrested. Mike reviewed the video of my arrest and pointed out a bunch of mistsakes the officer made during the road tests and PBT that he thought he could get the case dismissed. Mike tried to convince the prosecutors to dismiss the case or let me plead to a traffic ticket but the most they would do was drop it to an impaired driving which was still a DUI. Mike advised me to allow me to file a motion but never pressured me to do it. I thought about it over a weekend and agreed.
Mike filed the motion and we held a hearing in front of the judge. Mike cross examined the police officer who arrested me and destroyed him on the stand. He showed how the officer not only failed to perform the tests correctly but how he did not even know the proper way to give the tests in the first place. He also showed how the police officer messed up the PBT.
At the end of the hearing, the judge dismissed the case. Thanks Mike, I owe you everything. I will make sure to tell my friends about you.

One of the finest corporate attorneys in western Michigan highly recommended Michael Bartish to me when I was seeking representation for the reinstatement of my suspended driver’s license. I was told Mike was THE best in these matters. Having been earlier represented by an attorney who gave me minimum time, effort, and support, I found that Mike was a breath of fresh air. From our first meeting, I knew he was 100% invested in helping me. I felt confident in relying on his expertise and detailed, sound advice. He guided me every step of the way—all the way to gaining the privilege of having my driver’s license reinstated. I will be forever grateful to Mr. Bartish and will never hesitate to recommend him to others who need not only a superior attorney but also an attorney who truly cares about his clients.

I contacted the Springstead and Bartish law firm earlier in the summer because I had recently been charged with my second MIP. They were very clear and upfront with me about the procedure that would happen, as well as what they would try to do for me. Mike Bartish, my lawyer, was extremely kind and easy to talk to. He immediately made me feel a lot less on edge and nervous before I got in front of the judge. He also let me make decisions on my own, but offered helpful input as well. He ended up getting me an extremely good deal. The MIP is going to be dismissed off my record provided I complete 30 hours of community service and do not get in trouble with the law before my 21st birthday. It was honestly better than any outcome I had expected to happen. Mike Bartish is an extremely caring and respectable individual, and I would hands down recommend to anyone, especially someone with an MIP charge who is debating if they need to hire a lawyer for their case. He is not only a great lawyer, but a great person in general, who will definitely work to get the best for your case that he can.

I hired Mike for my 2nd OWI and my priorities were to avoid jail time and to get my license. He was always straightforward and worked hard to get me what I wanted. His credibility and great reputation are not baseless. He was able to get me a fair sentence and was very pleasant to work with, I highly recommend him if you ever need an attorney in the area. I hope I never need a criminal attorney again, but if I did, I know whom I'd go with.

Michael was exceptional in representing my case. He catered specifically to my unique needs and helped steer the judge towards a decision that did not significantly alter my anticipated plans (pre-arrest). My charge was lowered and repercussions were fair. It was clear that Michael was looking out for MY best interest and not trying to make a name for himself at my expense.

Mr. Bartish did an excellent job with my case. He handled my case with professionalism and got me a great outcome to my case. He not only helped me in the court room but outside of it as well. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a lawyer. He will do anything in his power to help his client. He is very knowledgeable and also has great courtroom presence.

my son made some poor decisions in his trip to the electric forest music festival. he was facing some serious charges and this was unfortunately his 4th encounter with the legal system. we were extremely worried and distraught i was convinced he was facing jail time and substantial fines. the ultimate outcome was case dismissed!!! thank you mike bartish and gary springstead. in most instances they were extremely responsive to our phone calls and called back though it may have taken a bit of time (which is understandable given the enormous case load this festival must have generated for the state.) i highly recommend them and i would not hesitate to use them again (G-d forbid i should need to)

Mike was hired to represent one of my sons based on the recommendation of a pair of lawyers who had previously handled cases both with and against him in the Grand Rapids area [we are not from the area ourselves]. I was nothing short of thrilled by the service he provided. Hired the morning of the first hearing, he got a grasp of the facts immediately, was a calming influence (during an exceedingly stressful time for all concerned), exhibited a great rapport with the Prosceutor's office, the Judge, and the Judge's staff. He was both patient and persistent, kept things on an even keel throughout, and did a wonderful job of describing every step of a very disorienting process. Of course, getting the criminal charges dropped in their entirety was a GREAT result (for a potential 5-year felony). As someone who has worked in the legal profession myself for nearly 30 years and has, thus, see a great many attorneys in action, I couldn't recommend him more highly.

If you’re looking for a great Criminal Defense Attorney in the Grand Rapids area, look no further than Mike Bartish.
My daughter got into some minor trouble with the law enforcement officials at a local university and while the issues were minor, they seemed determined to make them much more then would be expected. I contacted Mike and he immediately got to work. He knew all the players in the case, both in and out of the courthouse, gave us the range of options in the case, and probably most of all, informed us of the probably outcome and gave us piece of mind.
Mike worked with the prosecutor and law enforcement officials to dismiss or plead down all charges. 18 year olds make poor decisions at times but should not pay for them forever and Mike was able to convince the prosecutor and police of that fact.
The case was settled out of court, which is exactly the outcome you want. It gives everyone a known outcome and eliminates a court decision which can be a crap shoot and is certainly less expensive. Throughout this process, Mike was communicative, professional, and caring. Without hesitation would I highly recommend Mike Bartish and would have had complete faith in him should this case have gone to trial.
Again, if you need a great CD lawyer in Grand Rapids, retain Mike Bartish.

The federal court system was completely new world for me, I had hard time to find right and knowledgeable attorney in Grand Rapids area. Mike was recommended by another attorney. As time goes I realized, Mr. Bartish is an outstanding professional, tremendous personal qualities combined with highest professionalism and passion for what he does. I have dealt with few attorneys in past, Mike is different. He listened to my matter, presented me with options, and advised me accordingly.
Throughout my case, Mike worked diligently to reach a maximum favorable outcome in my matter. Throughout the entire process the choice was always mine to make with all options presented with supported case studies to assist me in making the best decision. I don't believe another attorney could have achieved a better outcome than him. He is very knowledgeable and I can trust his expertise completely. I would say Mike is the epitome of honesty and integrity.
He has advised me far more than expected. Mike knows the law, and experienced with the courts' procedures. My family and I are very thankful, for my family and friends have someone to turn to when things get rough.

Michael handled a DWI case for me. He was honest, respectfully and helpful. In addition, he was very knowledgeable about the court proceedings, and made every effort to ensure that my case was handled efficiently. He was responsive to my questions, and negotiated the best possible outcome for my case. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him.

I personally would rather be on a battlefield in the US Army facing down a dozen hostiles then defending myself in Court with a Court appointed attorney. Legal Knowledge, Analytical Capabilities, Judgment, Communication Ability, and Legal Experience, Michael has it all. Like Delta Force is to the US Military, Mr. Bartish is for you in Court.

My adult son was involved in a single car, roll-over accident during a rain storm, no one was injured, no substances were involved, but the car was totaled. Prior to the Police arriving at the scene, my son gathered up some scattered belongings that included a Marijuana pipe and placed them inside his backpack. To make a long story short, when the police arrived at the scene they ended up searching the backpack and discovering the paraphernalia, without permission or probable cause.
I contacted Michael Bartish upon a recommendation of my real estate Lawyer. He immediately reviewed the statements of my son and filled an appearance. He obtained a copy of the Incident Report and filled to obtain any other information or documents the State had. He felt strongly that the search of the backpack was improper and informed us that we had a few choices. What we ultimately pursued was trying to get the Prosecutor to enroll my son in a diversion program that would eliminate the possession of drug paraphernalia charge after he completed community service and counseling... The Prosecutor refused and Mike recommended we file a motion to contest the search as unconstitutional. We agreed and Mike prepared an excellent detailed motion. We once again offered to agree to a diversion program but the Prosecutor, once again, elected to move to have the Judge hear the motion.
The day of the Motion Hearing, Mike was prepared and ready to argue his motion. I was very impressed with his Court Room demeanor, he was factual and deliberate while leaving plenty of room for everyone involved in the States’ case to save face.
Mike was persuasive and respectful of everyone involved and ultimately successful in our motion. The Judge ruled the search was indeed unconstitutional and suppressed any evidence from the search. The Judge did not dismiss the case but rather left it to the Prosecutors office to determine what they would like to do from here. The Prosecutor then asked the Judge to dismiss the case right then, we were so relieved. I believe that we got the result we did because of Mike's skill and respectful demeanor.
After the gavel came down the Judge and the Prosecutor commented in the Court Room on what a great job Mike had done. I completely agree. I cannot imagine that any other attorney could have done a better job.
I highly recommend Michael Bartish as an attorney and he earned the title of Counselor. He made sure to take time after the verdict to have a discussion with my son regarding what can happen when one engages in any illegal activity... no matter how inconsequential they might think it to be.
I would also like to discuss how responsive Mike was throughout the almost 5 month process. I live on the other side of the State and Mike was always quick to relay any updated information on the case via email and a follow-up letter. He was available to us by phone and always returned our calls and emails promptly.
While it is my sincere wish that I never have to use his services again, Michael Bartish is highly recommended by this parent and client. Thank you Mike!

Mr. Bartish handled my daughter's MIP case in the notorious court of Judge Post in Ottawa County, Michigan. He represented my daughter in a highly professional manner, and was successful in getting her charge reduced from a misdemeanor to a civil infraction. He is completely honest and trustworthy. He educated us during the entire process. His approach was logical and reasonable. I believe that he is a respected attorney in the court system. I would highly recommend Mr. Bartish for any legal assistance.

Mr. Bartish provided a tremendous amount of support to me for my case. He explained everything to me in a way that made sure I understood exactly what was happening and what my options were. He responded quickly to my emails and calls and he made the whole terrible experience go much better for me. And we received really great results, I believe were due to his expert knowledge and experience.

Michael was referred to me from a friend. He took my call on a Sunday evening and was able to put me at ease and lessen my anxiety. When we met he was able to lay out our options and guided us through the legal process. He is very personable, knowledgeable and always has your best interest in the forefront. I would highly recommend Michael if you need legal representation. In addition, once the case was over, he was very willing to take my call for any future questions or needs. A first rate lawyer and person.

When I was arrested and faced with very scary charges, I was terrified that my life would be over. As soon as I contacted Michael, I gained assurance in Michael as my attorney. He gave me a free consultation immediately and walked me through every step and possible outcome. I felt very comfortable with him as he was calm and very easy to talk to.
I called him many times with questions and he always gave me the time and patience I needed. He was always completely honest with me about the potential outcomes, but his confidence in himself gave me confidence in the situation. In the end, because of his expertise, the outcome was the best that I could have hoped for. He stayed with me just to keep me company when I was in distress, and was up front about every detail. Even after the case, I am still able to call him with questions and I feel that he genuinely cares. I would definitely recommend him as an attorney.

My husband & I opened our home to foster children. There was an accident in the home with our foster daughter. The birthmom, police & our licensing agency were all in agreement this was an accident. Because we have 2 biological children, we had to be under investigation. Michael was very knowledgeable, kind & trustworthy. We were in constant communication. He made me feel like a friend, not just a client. He's passionate about justice and will fight for truth. I would reccommend him to anyone. Our foster agency had nothing but praises for Michael as well, and they've dealt with so many attorneys over the years. I have the utmost respect for Michael and total confidence in him!

We were thrown into totally unfamiliar territory when our son made a poor choice putting him in the criminal system. Mike Bartish was recommended by a family friend and upon our first meeting, we went from confused and fearful to calm and hopeful. Mikes's confident knowledge of the law was evident and we soon gave our trust to Mike as we put our son's future in his capable hands. Mike had our son's best interest at heart, yet was always truthful, honest of the consequences. He walked us through the legal system, always clarified procedures, answered our many questions so we knew what to expect from worst to best case scenario. Mike fought long and hard and brought out some very good points in court. Mike was very professional in and out of the court. Our son felt Mike was easy to talk to, trustworthy, sincere, and made to feel like he was his most important client. We will continue to hold Mike in highest regards and be thankful he came into our lives.

Mr. Bartish was appointed to represent my husband in federal court when he was arrested for distribution of crack after he was set up by a snitch. Because of the evidence, my husband had to plead guilty. At the sentencing hearing, my husband was sentenced to 18 years because they said he was a violent criminal. Mr. Bartish did not give up and appealed the sentence to the 6th circuit arguing that my husband was not a violent criminal. They agreed and sent the case back to the original judge for sentencing. At the new sentencing hearing, Mr. Bartish convinced the same judge to sentence my husband to 6 years. Because of Mr. Bartish, my husband will be out in less than 8 months.
Other attorneys would have given up, but Mr. Bartish never did. Thank you!!!

My 85 year old father was beaten by a GR policeman and then charged with obstructing / resisting. Michael literally "walked" my elderly parents thru the system assisting them in every way and always making them feel good. He never talked down to them and was always good about explaining everthing to them and keeping us all informed throughout the year he handled my fathers case. He was also far more helpful and assertive in my brothers case than his court appointed attorney and was instrumental in getting his case dismissed as well as getting the bogus restraining order dismissed as well. I would highly recommend him
