I recently received a call that my 18yr. old child had gotten an MIP at a large university in southwest Michigan. My family lives over 15 hrs. away by car. I was disappointed and had a feeling of helplessness. I hit the Internet and chose an attorney based on reviews and research. That is what compelled me to write this. I had a very pleasant client/attorney experience with a friendly staff and a competent team.
Owning a small business myself I employ people based on resume and record. In this competitive job market a MIP could easily tip the scale. (The Diversion program is not your only option for a MIP.) After going to court our family was so pleased with the outcome that we can only refer to it as a gift that Mike made possible. As a parent I can tell you that you should be at ease to know that Mike Bartish is there when you can’t be!

Mike was very friendly and made and very uncomfortable situation easier to handle. Mike did a very good job in resolving a citation we felt was unjustly administered.

Michael Bartish is truly an impressive attorney! I was recently convicted of Driving While Impaired. When I called his office to obtain representation he called me back within minutes of leaving him a message. He explained what I was looking at as far as possible outcomes and immediately put me at ease. We were looking at taking my case to trial but Michael was able to obtain a favorable plea agreement. For that I am truly grateful! I would highly recommend Mike Bartish!

This was my second time hiring Mike Bartish. I had an issue concerning the reinstated suspension of my driver's license that required immeadiate attention and immeadiate action. Mike called me back within 10 minutes of leaving a message and completely put my mind at ease. Upon further investigation, he also discovered that I should not have received the letter and that the state was in violation of their own rule!
Mike has been an absolute blessing in my life to say the very least. Mike Bartish is one of the finest attorneys in this state and probably the country too. His promptness, professionalism and results speak for themselves. I highly recommend Mike Bartish.

Michael is a top-notch attorney. Last fall I made some terrible decisions, and I got behind the wheel while intoxicated. I was arrested and charged with a high blood alcohol content DUI. It was my first offense. Considering the possible penalties for this charge, I frankly was terrified, and I didn’t know who to turn to. One of my cousins, who had been represented by Michael in the past, highly recommended Michael. I had an initial conversation with Michael and also with several other attorneys in Grand Rapids. After speaking with all of them, I felt the most comfortable with Michael and also was confident that he was the right person for my case.
What impressed me most was how Michael handled himself during my hearing. From his demeanor, tone, and speaking ability, it was clear that he is very much at home in the courtroom. His carefully chosen words seemed to capture the undivided attention of everyone in the courtroom, including – most importantly – the judge. Also, based on the dialogue between the judge and Michael, it appeared to me that the judge definitely respects Michael and views him as an excellent attorney. In short, Michael absolutely nailed it, and I am so glad that I chose him for my case. I am thankful for his guidance during a difficult, stressful chapter of my life.

I truly enjoyed working with Michael. Once taken the case, he moved quickly to get things done. He is very proactive and kept me informed on the progress of the case. He is very approachable - always replied my emails/phone calls in a timely manner. He has great knowledge in his field, and was capable to make right suggestions. And most important I feel that he really cares about the client and family.

For those who read only the first two sentences, if you are looking for a lawyer, hire Michael Bartish. Michael Bartish won a Not Guilty verdict in this case. I was fully acquitted. Michael Bartish is a VERY GOOD lawyer.
Michael Bartish explained the details of normal legal actions concerning a 3rd Degree Retail Fraud case and then worked hard to figure out what was going on in my case. The judge and Meijer seemed to have a whole new interpretation of the law. The good thing was that after Michael took us through a hearing and full 6 person jury trial, the jury judged me on the law rather than on a Meijer fantasy. I was found "not guilty" because I did not steal, did not intend to steal, and did not leave the property with any store product I did not pay for in my visit. You would be amazed how difficult it was to make it through a trial that has nothing but conflicted witnesses and false accusations as evidence against against you. I praise the Lord for Michael the way he was able to keep my character witnesses in the trial when the judge clearly did not want me to have any positive testimony or evidence.
Michael was able to work with witnesses in such a way as to make it clear he was walking the tight rope the judge set up by his minimization of allowable testimony. Because of how tightly he was following the rules and how it made everything look simple for the prosecution, Michael was able to lull the prosecution into overconfidence so that they attacked my character witnesses in such a way as to allow testimony concerning my innocence. Praise the Lord he was able to work through the restrictions or no one would have been allowed to introduce any evidence of my innocence.
I am glad that Michael believed me and believed in me. If left to the prosecutor and judge, I feel I would have been served to Meijer on a platter. Because Meijer said I had bad intent, I was treated by the judge and prosecutor as if I had committed murder on live television. In fact, since the video would have been advantageous to me, it somehow was forgotten, lost, and never introduced. The judge urged the jury to ignore the missing video and assume that Meijer only had good intentions in
"losing the video." Michael had to emphasize that there was no good reason to "lose" the video if it could show guilt. The hearing and trial were intense and I lost sleep for months before the system finally was ready to give me my day in court.
Without Michael it would have been difficult to handle the pressure that is constantly mounted against a defendant. From the moment of accusation, the Meijer staff constantly told me what I had intended to do in the store. They constantly told me I was a habitual thief and yelled and cajoled me (with a good cop bad cop activity) in order to get a confession. I praise the Lord I did not confess despite the store and eventually a police officer making me think they would leave me alone if I did. That was not true at all. If I had ever lied and agreed with Meijer, I would be in jail or at least on some sort of probation. I am glad I decided not to give up my rights and to get a lawyer. I'm glad that lawer was Michael. I am glad I did not "tell the police officer my story." I hope never to have a next time, but, if I do, I will not go with Meijer staff to be haranged over and over. I will say "I will stand here while you get a Police Officer, but I will not go with you." I will also use my cell phone to call Michael Bartish. I would not want to go through something like this without him.

Last October, while visiting Grand Rapids, MI for a concert, I was arrested and charged with a felony schedule 1 drug charge. I had a small amount of the substance MDMA in a backpack that was searched, leading to my arrest. I'm a 24 year old college student, working full time to pay for my college education, which I'm close to completing. After being informed that I was being charged with a felony, I was scared that I had ruined my chance at a bright future. I took the time to drive up to Grand Rapids, looking for the best lawyer to represent me for what the court case that could potentially make or break the bright future I have planned for myself. After meeting with a few different attorneys, I met with Mike. From the moment I entered his office, I was blown away. Mike got right down to the point, explaining how he's handled many case's like mine, and all the different approaches we could take in court. He was honest and humble, yet had the aggressive personality that I assume many of the great attorneys possess. Needless to say, I hired Attorney Bartish before I walked out of his office. I had been in legal trouble about 5 years ago, and hired an attorney that was considered one of the best in Ann Arbor. While I did receive good representation, that attorney was hard to get a hold of, was never on time and seemed to drag the case along further than it needed to go. I never had any of these issues with Mike. He was already present and well prepared by the time I entered the courthouse. He was also both friendly and familiar with the other attorneys and court employees. However, my main concern was just how well he'd do with my charge. Following the verdict, I owe my life to Mike. Not only did he reduce my felony to a misdemeanor, but he also was able to get the Open Intox charge (I received it at the same time as the felony) dropped completely. I couldn't thank Mr. Bartish enough walking out of the courthouse, but before I could do so, we discussed my future with a short lecture about how to stay on track, being more aware of my surroundings and choosing the right kinds of people to surround myself with. Many attorneys would have just shaken my hand and left, but my discussion with Mr. Bartish showed that he cared about me as a PERSON and not just a client.
Attorney Bartish was the right choice for me and I strongly recommend him to others. He proved to myself and my family that he's a hard worker, whose not in the business for the money, but to help give his clients a 2nd chance in life. Keeping a felony charge out of circuit court (far more expensive) isn't easy to do, and Mr. Bartish did just that for me.
Personally, I've learned my lesson, so I won't need him to represent me again, but if something did happen, there would be no question Attorney Michael Bartish is the guy I would rush to hire.
Mr. Bartish's qualities:
