About Me

Alan T. Ackerman is the managing partner of Michigan-based Ackerman Ackerman & Dynkowski P.C. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in 1968 and his Masters degree from Michigan State University in 1971. Alan received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1972.

Alan has been aggressively fighting for the rights of displaced and undercompensated condemnation and eminent domain victims for more than 30 years. Over the past three decades, he and his firm have tried 45 cases at both the state and federal level that have resulted in just compensation exceeding the original offer by $1 million.

Alan is the past Chair of the Michigan Real Property Section Condemnation Law Committee, American Bar Association Real Property Section Condemnation Committee. He has been an adjunct professor teaching eminent domain law at the University of Detroit Law School since 1983, and now serves as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University College of Law. In 2009, Chambers USA recognized Alan as one of the best eminent domain attorneys in the country. In addition, he has been featured in Michigan Super Lawyers magazine for five consecutive years.

He regularly contributes scholarly articles to such notable publications as The ABA Journal, National Petroleum News, Marine Business Journal, Michigan State University Law Review, Detroit Bar Journal, University of Detroit Mercy Law Review, American Society of Appraisers Journal, University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform and The Michigan Bar Journal.

Alan Ackerman and Darius Dynkowski have unequaled experience in handling eminent domain matters in Michigan, Ohio and throughout the United States. I am not aware of anybody who has obtained better results for property owners faced with takings by governmental agencies or utility companies.
