About Me

I am an attorney in Butzel Long’s Ann Arbor office, practicing in the areas of intellectual property, technology and media law. My practice focuses on assisting clients in securing and protecting their technology and brand, whether through transactions or litigation. My clients include companies in the manufacturing and automotive arena, health care industry and digital and traditional media.

The advent of the digital age has created new challenges for companies and organizations. I advise clients in advertising and branding, First Amendment protections, data privacy, and intellectual property protection with an emphasis on emerging technologies including design for privacy, 3D printing, vehicle safety, infotainment, and connected car technology (V2V and V2I).

As a self-titled “recovering engineer,” I have been influenced by my high-level quality management and engineering positions with Tier 1 suppliers where I held multi-million dollar bottom line responsibility. I worked extensively on successful automotive product launches, managing vendors and manufacturing facilities. I have industry-based experience with field recalls and was a representative to the University of Michigan’s CIREN (Crash Injury Research & Engineering Network) and UMPIRE (University of Michigan Program for Injury Research and Education). Working as a design engineer, I received multiple Record of Invention Awards for contributions to patents and trade secrets. I am a Six Sigma Certified Master Black Belt.
