Rachel has been instrumental in helping my husband and I with his parents' elder care needs. She provided us with a comprehensive plan to create a Trust to protect their assets as well as a plan to utilize Medicaid and VA benefits. Her team of social workers have provided support for various issues including helping to secure a hospice provider for my father-in-law. We are very pleased with the services her firm has provided. I have recommended Rachel to others and plan to continue to do so.

I was referred to Kabb Law by a friend at a time when I was at my wits end trying to find care and coverage for my mother who suffers from dementia. I cannot speak highly enough about the service that we received from Rachel and her exquisite staff. Within three weeks, they had addressed our financial planning, Medicaid application, physical and mental evaluations and nursing home location for my mother. They listened to my concerns about having my mom nearby so my brother and I could visit regularly. My mother is in a safe and lovely location near my home and I have Rachel to thank for that.
I am able to sleep again. I simply don’t know what I would have done without Rachel and her team. I highly recommend them.

I would not recommend this attorney to anyone. You pay up front for a service you do not get. You will have to call several times before you get an answer or call back from the attorney. Many of the things we were originally told upon signing were not true Many things fell through the cracks, and if it were not for the other workers there, I do not know how any work would get done. The attorney is commonly at lunch or on a vacation.

Rachel Anne Kabb-Effron’s response: “While I am not sure which client this is because no one has come to me personally to discuss their disappointment, I will do what I can to respond. I do know of one client where the out of town sibling does not always know what is going on day to day with the care coordination so the out of town sibling may not have full appreciation for our services. I can assure you that things do not fall through the cracks. We do assign one point of contact, the care coordinator who does bring issues that need to be addressed to me personally. I can say that I do call families back. I try diligently to call right away but every law office is a busy place. While it is frustrating to have to call several times, I do call back which the client acknowledges. If a family brings an issue to our attention we, as a team, address it within 24-48 hours. However, when we are relying on Medicaid or the VA to communicate with us about a case, those agencies are particularly unfriendly to the consumers they serve, so we are at the mercy of government agencies to do our job. The fee up front is because Medicaid planning requires spend down. I always, in accordance with my professional responsibilities to the bar association keep track of my hours and where warranted, refund fees. The fee is for both Medicaid or VA planning and Care coordination, which the client seems to praise (the other workers). Lastly, I usually eat lunch at my desk or with my staff to go over cases. I cannot remember the last vacation I took without working through it and taking client calls even during Christmas week with my family. I welcome a sit down meeting with this individual to discuss their review!”

Rachel Kabb-Effron was a wonderful help to my father and me during my mother's dimentia. Rachel was instrumental in getting my mother on Medicaid, so we could place her in a wonderful facility. Rachel was very patient with my father, who was not always pleasant. She was great at keeping both my father and me informed every step of the process.

Rachel also helped prepare a living will for my father, a power of attorney for my father, and she updated my parents' will.

Rachel is a kind, sensitive person, and is very knowledgeable about the ever-changing elderlaw issues.
