Felony Drug Trafficking Case Dismissed
Aug 28, 2014
The Defendant was charged with two Felony counts of Drug Trafficking. The evidence included video recordings of multiple alleged buys of alleged narcotics from the Defendant by a confidential informant. The Defendant denied any wrongdoing and retained Attorney Frey after working with another attorney for many months.
After determining the identity of the confidential informant, Attorney Frey secured an exculpatory statement from the informant and presented it to the prosecutor. The statement was beneficial to the Defendant and called into question the reliability and nature of the video and audio evidence that was relied upon by the Drug Task Force and prosecution.
Attorney Frey requested a dismissal of all charges and prepared the case for trial. After having the case reset for trial multiple times, the prosecutor ultimately dismissed all charges following months of discussions and pre-trial meetings.
