Representation of the Barrington Farm Homeowner's Association
Lack of proper research; lack of preparation; did not effectively take notes to retain information obtained from pertinent witnesses; was confused even on the day of court as to witness names and why each witness was called to testify; did not fully prepare or apply herself; more interest in obtaining initial fees and additional fees than preparing to win a case that was fully supported by both case law and documented in the Homeowners Covenient which was on file as required at the court house; was not assertive in court lacking sufficient knowledge to "object" effectively; never returned phone calls to provide client with status of the case; lost this case supporting 40+ homeowners versus 1 homeowner; projected timid traits as a lawyer rather than self confidence; a very quiet voice rather than one that projected or was convincing; could not adequately be heard in court; was not focused on the real issue allowing the other attorney to divert the issue many times; showed up late in courthouse after asking clients to meet there 45 mins early; asked clients to be there early to go over the data before court--but did not go over data that morning before court. Would never recommend this attorney or use this attorney's services again. Would never recommend the Fred Lawton Law Firm that this attorney worked for at time of this case; very unprofessional services were rendered throughout the case; attorney's smoked in the office (not this attorney) & cigarette smoke was very strong in the conference room during meetings with clients present; the law firm also lost the initial payment check & another had to be issued; they could not be reached when needed (seldom in the office/didn't return calls) and they never contacted clients independently to provide a status of the case; when this attorney stated that they would call with an update or to set up meetings with witnesses they did not call; continuous delays by this attorney & law firm that could have been avoided; e.g., it took approximately 6-7 months to issue first letter from the homeowner's association to the defendant when timeliness was an important factor to the case. Many homeowners were very disappointed in services provided. Thank you.
