Robert P. Byelick, born Tarrytown, New York, August 15,1950; admitted to the Florida Bar in 1976; United States District Court of the Middle District of Florida, United States Circuit Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits.  While attending college he was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, Pi Gamma Mu, and Phi Delta Phi (Exchequer 1974-1976).  After his graduation from Stetson University College of Law, Mr. Byelick was an Associate at Lyle & Skipper, P.A. from 1976-1981 when he became a shareholder .  In 1991, he became a Partner with the Firm.

 

Mr. Byelick has practiced in the area of workers' compensation since 1976.  He has primarily represented insurance companies, servicing agencies and employers.  He has tried over 150 cases and has handled numerous appeals.  He has experience in Social Security Disability law and has successfully handled appeals in the Federal District and Appellate Courts.  Over the years, Mr. Byelick  has provided seminars to insurance clients on various topics of workers' compensation law.  He had periodically offered case opinions to insurance companies on recent workers' compensation appellate decisions.

 

Mr. Byelick is involved in several organizations such as the Kiwanis Club of St. Petersburg where he has previously served as President (1988-89) and currently serves as Chairman of the Jim Fischer Scholarship Committee; St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce (Board of Governors (1991-1993); Chairman of Sports Commission (1990-1992) and Chamber Member of the Year 1990; Leadership St. Petersburg; Suncoasters (Vice-President 1993, Treasurer 1998-2000).  Mr. Byelick has served on the Board of Directors for the Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens since 2004.  He has served as PARC's Treasurer (2005-2006), 2nd Vice President (2007-2008) and currently serves as Chairman of the Board (2008-2009).
