I am the youngest of seven sons of a famer and cattle rancher in Dodge City, Kansas. At an early age, I learned the value of hard work. At fifteen, I started driving a semi truck on the farm. I worked at the Gunsmoke Truckstop while attending Dodge City Community College. When I transferred to the University of Kansas, I payed my own way be working at a liquor store.
Upon graduation, I attended the University of Virginia School of Law, one of the top law schools in the United States. After law school, I went to work for Shook, Hardy and Bacon in Kansas City where I represented Fortune 100 companies in product liablity cases.
