I am a board certified criminal trial attorney. I have been practicing law in the state of Florida since October, 2001. I came to Florida from Connecticut, where I attended law school at the University of Connecticut, between 1998 and 2001. Prior to law school, I graduated cum laude from American University with Bachelor of Arts degree in History. I also completed a minor in Justice while at American. I attended William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut, graduating in 1994.
I began my legal career at the Office of the Public Defender for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit. During my 9 ½ years working as a public defender, I tried more than 50 jury trials and represented thousands of indigent people charged with a variety of offenses. As a public defender, I spent more than two years in the Major Crimes division where I tried a multitude of homicide cases and represented numerous people facing the death penalty.
I have also represented juveniles charged in both juvenile and adult court, as well as adults charged with offenses ranging from domestic battery to DUI to possession of cocaine to arson to capital sexual battery and everything in between. I also was the Resource Director for the County Court division of the public defender’s office. In that position, I acted in a supervisory role over the newer attorneys in the office, assisting them in trial preparation and client representation.
In February, 2011, I became a founding partner in the law firm of Marshall & Berry, where I represented people who are being investigated by law enforcement or have been arrested and charged with crimes.
In February, 2016, I opened Scott Berry Law, P.A., where I continue to represent individuals in criminal cases in both state and federal court throughout Florida.
