Richard Alex Asselta

About me

Mr. Asselta exclusively focuses his practice to the areas of appellate practice and education and school law.  Mr. Asselta began his career working for a defense firm that exclusively dealt with criminal appeals and post-conviction criminal litigation.  Mr. Asselta has prepared briefs and motions concerning major drug trafficking crimes, criminal conspiracy and financial crimes, to name a few. He is also an experienced litigator, having tried numerous matters.  Mr. Asselta has represented clients in Florida, numerous federal courts of appeals, and in New Jersey, where he is also licensed to practice law.

Mr. Asselta’s education and school law practice includes representing the interests of students and teachers in all educational settings. For nearly ten years Mr. Asselta represented a large school district where he handled special education issues, privacy, disciplinary matters and academic issues. The same detailed approach taken to his appellate work is applied to his education and school law practice. A critical review of documents, assisting with negotiations and meticulous hearing and trial preparation are but a few of the ways Mr. Asselta ensures that his clients are provided the level of services and care that each deserve.

Richard grew up in New Jersey and attended college in Washington, D.C. He attended law school in South Florida where he served as an Associate Editor of his school’s Law Review.  He currently resides in South Florida.
