Mr. Ruiz has extensive courtroom and trial experience. As an Assistant State Attorney, Mr. Ruiz handled numerous criminal cases from arrest to trial and conviction. Since serving as a prosecutor for the State of Florida, Mr. Ruiz has continued litigating numerous cases in various areas of the law, including bankruptcy.

Mr. Ruiz received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He
received a bachelor's degree with a double major in Economics and
Electrical Engineering. While at Yale, Mr. Ruiz was a Presidential
Scholar, Yale Scholar, Society of American Military Engineers Scholar,
Charles E. Jones Scholar, Henry T. Morgan Scholar, and a Connecticut
Information Technology Scholar. Mr. Ruiz also served on the Yale
College Council as a representative, was a co-founding member, editor,
and technical director of LawMeme at Yale Law School, as well as the
Director of Information Technology for the Yale Law and Technology
Mr. Ruiz graduated from the Florida International University College of Law with a J.D. degree and graduated magna cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Ruiz made the Dean's List all of his semester, was a semi-finalist in the Weschler National First Amendment Moot Court Competition at American University in Washington, D.C., was the second place overall oralist in the FIU Intramural Appellate Moot Court Competition, represented the law school at the National Moot Court Competition sponsored by the Assocation of the Bar of the City of New York, and was Vice-President of the Moot Court Board of Advocates. Mr. Ruiz's academic credentials earned him the coveted book awards in courses such as Business Associations, Evidence, Federal Income Taxation, and the Law of War and International Armed Conflict.
