Seda Aktas, Esq. is the President of Aktas Law, P.A., and focuses her practice on defense of criminal charges in Federal and State Courts, as well as business law and litigation.
In 2015, Ms. Aktas was honored by National Association of Distinguished Counsel as one of the "Nation's Top One Percent," a prestigious award reserved for the elite few in Florida, and she was also awarded “Top 10 Under 40” in Florida by National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys, in addition to her 2014 Awards of "Top 40 Under 40" by The National Trial Lawyers, Rated “Superb” Attorney and "Client's Choice" by Avvo.com, and as one of "10 Best" in Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys. Admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit along with all Florida State Courts, she is a member of the Florida Bar, Broward County Bar Association, Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Federal Bar Association and Broward County Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Aktas is also approved to teach Trial Advocacy as an Adjunct Professor and was an instructor for the NITA Florida Deposition Skills Program 2013 at Nova Southeastern University Shepherd Broad Law School. She is proud of her involvement in the Turkish-American community as the elected Southeast Vice President of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations and also serves on the Board of Directors for Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
At the beginning of her legal career, Ms. Aktas served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit in Indian River County. Within months of service, she was promoted to the Felony division, where she prosecuted charges ranging from third degree felonies to those punishable by life, as well as capital sexual battery. During her tenure as a prosecutor, Ms. Aktas completed innumerable jury and bench trials. Prior to founding Aktas Law, P.A., Ms. Aktas worked as Assistant Regional Counsel at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, where she defended hundreds of serious felony cases including armed offenses, sex offenses, and drug trafficking. Utilizing her knowledge as a former prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney, she has completed many jury trials, obtained numerous acquittals, and secured favorable results for many clients without having to proceed to trial.
Ms. Aktas graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Communication, and International Relations. She went on to earn her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law, graduating at the top of her class. While in law school, she was a Law Review Staff Editor and a member of Moot Court Honor Board, which competes in numerous national competitions. During her last year as a law student, she completed an internship with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, and was honored by the United States Department of Justice in 2007 by being chosen as a candidate for the Attorney General’s Honors Program.
Ms. Aktas lives in South Florida, and is an active supporter of many charitable and artistic organizations. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, she is fluent in Turkish and English.
