Lisa Smith Bedwell's experience as a client advocate, as staff counsel to family law judges, and as a professional writer combine to give her a unique edge in the area of family law appeals.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Bedwell was a staff writer for various publications. After graduating Stetson in 2004, she worked in Washington D.C. for Law Resources and as a Legislative Fellow in the United States House of Representatives.
For nearly six years Ms. Bedwell was staff counsel to the judges of the 13th Circuit Court family law division, where she did research and wrote judgments and orders on a variety of issues including divorce, paternity, adoption, dependency, delinquency, domestic violence, and general civil litigation.
In 2012, she joined Rechel & Associates, P.A., where she worked in family law litigation, family law appeals, family mediation, and collaborative divorce.
In 2015, Ms. Bedwell opened her own practice, Smith Bedwell Family Law, P.A., which focuses on family law appeals, mediation, and litigation. In August 2015 she accepted a position as "of counsel" family law attorney with the law firm of Stenstrom, McIntosh, Colbert & Whigham, P.A.
She is married and lives in Orlando with her husband and two sons.

Are you an attorney? Endorse this lawyer
I have known Ms. Bedwell since 2001. She always represented the intellectual side of legal practice and that is something I thoroughly admire. Ms. Bedwell is the "real thing" and I have no doubt of her ability to tackle the most complex of legal matters.

I emphatically endorse this lawyer. I have had the pleasure of working with LIsa on a number of Family Law matters. Her knowledge of the law is unparalleled. I think the fact that she acted as a legal advisor for many of the family law judges in the 13th Judicial Circuit speaks volumes of her understanding of the Family Law practice area. Many of the issues faced by clients in a divorce can become very complex. When they do Lisa is the one that you would want by your side. I have also watched her in action and I can tell you that she is zealous in the defense of her clients. Anyone with a family law problem should seek her representation.
