Barbara Blount-Powell

I have been representing the interests of persons accused of violations of Florida law in Gainesville and surrounding counties for 24 years. Before returning to Gainesville I was engaged in civil trial practice in Miami, Fl. for four years. Our law practice, DeThomasis and Buchanan P.A., consists of three attorneys, all exclusively handling criminal defense related cases, and all practicing in excess of 22 years.

Before joining DeThomasis & Buchanan, P.A., in 2001, I practiced criminal law as an assistant Public Defender for the 8th Judicial Circuit for over sixteen years. I was a member of the defense team for Danny Harold Rolling from 1992 through his trial in February of 1994. 

I continue to participate in educational enhancement through DUI, death penalty and other criminal law seminars. I also participate in the mentoring of fellow bar members through the American Inn of Court.
