Jeff is one of four Board Certified Attorneys in Construction Law at Niesen|Price. He specializes in the area of design and construction defects, differential site conditions and delay damages. Jeff is a member of the Florida Bar and all Federal Districts of Florida and conducts appeals from and to District, Appellate and Supreme Courts.
As with all of the senior attorneys at Niesen|Price, Jeff has extensive experience in construction outside of the practice of law. He was a building contractor in Iowa and Massachusetts constructing light commercial and condominium housing. A former finish carpenter, cement finisher, and ironworker, he has worked in all major phases of construction.
As a Rule IX Intern while attending law school, Jeff prosecuted non-felony cases in bench and jury settings as an Associate District Attorney. After graduation, Jeff joined with a local attorney in a Washington private practice working in both family and construction law. Jeff was later appointed a District Court Prosecuting Attorney in Washington State where he conducted trials for four years prior to joining the firm.
Jeff, a native of Florida who was raised in Rockledge, returned in the late 1990’s when his wife, Dr. Maureen T. Long was recruited by the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine as a Professor of Equine Medicine. The own a farm in Alachua County where they raise horses.
• Jeff has first-chaired numerous civil and criminal matters tried to both court and jury panels.
• He is the attorney of record for several national organizations and consulting counsel for various construction companies and materials’ suppliers.
• Jeff has set-up and organized numerous C, S, and LLC/LLP organizations, and acts as their corporate counsel.
• Jeff is called upon by various public entities to represent them in complex construction cases involving both "little" and "big" Miller Act bonds.
